Ok, cure me please: SPIDERS!
First topic message reminder :
Don't know of it's the curse of this place and that bloody thread About spiders, but over the last few days I've had massive spiders in my house.
They freak me out!!!!
Why are they coming in?
Why are they so freaking big?
What am I so scared of?
HOW CAN I STOP BEING SO FREAKED OUT????
There's no point telling me I'm bigger than them blah blah, there's no point (sassy) telling me they catch flies blah blah or even that they spin little cute webs and make orphans blankets.
I don't care.
I hate them and they freak me out.
Any one got any good cures for me? Please??

Spider In Ear: Arachnid 'Filmed In Swimmer's Infected Ear Canal'
If you had to make a list of the things you’d LEAST like to have in your ear, this is probably number one.
Yup, that looks like a spider peeking out of a man’s ear canal.
The gruesome clip was posted to YouTube by Bruce Branit, who wrote: “Swam at Lake of the Ozarks last weekend and got a super painful ear infection.

I'm not sure if the fact his is fake if good or bad FTL
But here’s the thing.
Branit operates a visual special effects company in Kansas City, so it was understandable there was some hesitation among the internet crowd that what we were seeing was in fact real.
“Definitely faked. It’s done pretty well though. But you can tell it’s fake because if you watch the video in HD on fullscreen, you can clearly see that the spider doesn’t move any of the little hairs in his ear. The spiders legs appear to just pass through the hairs instead of moving them. Well done, though ... had me fooled for several loops,” wrote one user below the clip.

I thought it was funny that the first thing I feared was that some kid's pet had escaped, given that it was so big and pretty

If you don't like spiders, try scorpions. They would live in the mesquite wood pile I kept next to the fireplace in my place in Arizona.
Although poisonous, they were great at killing crickets, ants, flies, wasps and even ticks.
Wife was not fond of them.

Had those in a Southwest Texas town I grew up in as well, though we mostly only saw them after they molted, which is pretty cool actually:
Re: Ok, cure me please: SPIDERS!
In news that nobody wants to hear, more giant house spiders are set to head indoors thanks to this summer’s weather.
The spiders, which can grow up to 12cm in length, will be heading into homes thanks to the warm, wet summer.
Oh and to make matters worse, they can BITE.
The BBC spoke to Stuart Hine, an insect specialist at the Natural History Museum, who said: "They can give you a bit of a nip if you pick them up by the leg, saying 'please let go of me' in the politest way they know.

Re: Ok, cure me please: SPIDERS!
That's a big boy! I didn't know they came that big in the UK.
In Texas we've been seeing some cool work from a very small spider species that alone isn't impressive, but that is one of the few species in which spiders cooperate to build giant webs, like this one that was spotted recently near Dallas:
The web is 12 meters tall and over 90 meters long! People who live nearby probably aren't bothered much by mosquitos or flies
