HUGE spiders to invade homes for autumn mating season
Spiders will emerge in your homes as they come out to mate this autumn
If you are an arachnophobe, your worst nightmare could be lurking in your own home
Giant spiders are set to crawl out of their hiding places and come out to play in September as mating season for the arachnids begins.
The eight-legged creatures, some as big as MICE according to last year's house spider photos, are out to mate and experts have said homeowners should expect to see them out more often.
Steve McGrail, from Pro-Kill Environmental, said there are not necessarily more spiders come September - but normally-reclusive males surface from their hiding places around homes to seek females to breed with.
Steve, a pest control expert with 25 years of experience, said: "“The male spiders come out the woodwork during this time of year as it is breeding season and they are searching for female spiders.
Bedfont woman 'finds spider in block of cheese'
"They are actually there in the home at other times of year but they are hidden away - under the floor, in the attic, in the basement. If you find them, it's pretty much impossible to rid your house of them.
"They may disappear for a period of time, but other spiders will come in their place. The best thing to do if you find them is put them in a shed it's a case of out of sight, out of mind. If you put them outside they are likely to die."
If the idea of this scares you, think of the South Ruislip mum who told getwestlondon of her horror after she found a seven inch tarantula in her home .

And whilst many are harmless, Made in Chelsea star Stephanie Pratt was rushed to Cromwell hospital in South Kensington in 2015 after being bitten by a spider .

I hate flies more. They don't survive in my house for more than a few minutes.

Oh God...they're here....
I settled in the lounge last night....felt unease and said to OH...'there is a spider in here'.....we had a scan round ..nothing.
Settled to watch the X factor....then it appeared, a bloody massive one, first one of the season, snuggled in the corner of the ceiling.
I scream...froze, OH who is not struck on them himself, gets a chair to climb up and kill it, which he does.
I HATE them to be killed, but I would leave home rather than stay inside with one, so unfortunately that was it's fate.

Re: HUGE spiders to invade homes for autumn mating season
I found three in one night - running across the floor (is there anything worse???) and I can tell you I didn't put my feet down all night after I splatted them.
I prefer them on the walls though. For some reason, it's the running that does it for me.

Re: HUGE spiders to invade homes for autumn mating season
The running is horrible, but anywhere they go they can move so quick....one minute they are on the ceiling, the next they have gone....probably fell down to attack from below.
The older I get the more I am scared of them....I cant kill one because I cant get that near, the best I have done is lean over crouched up on a chair to put a pint glass over one, that's if it stays still, but I usually sweat so much the glass gets slippery and I am petrified I will miss.
Failing that I will abandon the room or phone my neighbour if it's not too late and OH is out.
I HATE September when they come inside.

Re: HUGE spiders to invade homes for autumn mating season
I actually sense if I'm going to see one too. Just thought about what you'd said. I sort of know I'm going to encounter one before I see it.
It's a stupid fear and I hate it.
