Comment on today’s IFS announcement re Osborne Autumn Statement
John McDonnell MP, Labour’s Shadow Chancellor, commenting on the announcement from the IFS that George Osborne’s benefit changes will leave 2.6 million working families on average £1,600 a year worse off by 2020, said:
“The day after the spending review the Tory spin is unravelling. We said this was a smoke and mirror spending review and we were right. IFS research today shows that George Osborne has not reversed his welfare cuts, he has just delayed them, and 2.6 million families will still be on average £1600 worse off by 2020.”

Did Osborne not think his lies would come to light as soon as the IFS got hold of his figures?
