A Muslim-owned restaurant in London is offering a three-course meal to homeless and elderly people on Christmas Day so that “no one eats alone”.

Shish Restaurant, in Sidcup, is asking local residents to spread the word of its offer and has put up posters saying “We are here to sit with you” on 25 December.

I HAVE HEARD of some multicultural streets/neighbourhoods down here (mainly down in parts of Sydney and Melbourne..), who in recent years have held a local Christmas lunch, when everyone is invited, irregardless of religious, political or ethnic leanings...

And then local Muslim, Jewish, Chinese, Hindu, Scottish groups, et al, reciprocate by putting on a party when their relevant holidays/New Years crop up.. Giving those 'hoods recurring excuses for a string of parties and celebrations, from December through to March...

With regards to the O/P :

There are soup kitchens out there run by Hindu, Sikh, and non-religious groups, as well as the usual Christian groups. Some of these hold Christmas Day lunches, for homeless, poor and destitute peoples, around this area. So, there are precedents already there; even if certain fascist humbugs on here will always be looking for ulterior motives. sleaze

Take food...my OH would not be seen dead in an Indian restaurant, why? because not only can he not stand the taste of curry he cant bare the smell of richly spiced food either.
My next door neighbour often cooks curries, she starts mid afternoon and the aroma gets stronger as the day wears on....to me it smells divine, my OH has to come inside because the smell turns his stomach.
