Death from flu is under 1%
Death so far from this is near 5%
That is one in 20 people
Hence its very likely this will effect someone we know
This is a real case of denial by people to the extent of what potential harm, this could actually cause and the knock on effects economically from this
And yet you claim this is hype?
Is that really what your view is. Or has Eddie convinced you otherwise mate?
Don't. Just don't make it out like I'm only saying this because it's what's my wife thinks. That's cheap, a poor argument and you're only making yourself look bad.
I am saying this because its true
You would never form this position as an atheist
Only a person paranoid would form such views
On this I am never wrong

What has atheism got to do with the Coronavirus?

We stocked up on non perishable foods, just in case.
Not panicking, just being cautious.
A forced quarantine scenario has not been ruled out. We'll want food in the house if that happens.
When the govt started discussing ''creating extra mortuary spaces'' and maybe calling up retired doctors it means >

I think I read that they are already setting up plans for a lot more food deliveries in the case of that extreme scenario - though I don't think it will come to that in the UK.
Stock piling food does just seem to be cause more problems for people on top of the spread of the virus itself.

Re: Coronavirus updates (gelico's original thread)
I think a lot of people are taking this to two extremes. On the one hand you have the complete ignorance of claiming it is nothing serious at all, that it's (to follow Trump's inane lead) 'just the flu' and seem disinterested in any of the advice to self-quarantine, be extra vigilant where hand washing is concerned etc.
Then you have the other side who seem to think we are approaching the end times, that the virus will cripple civilisation and that we need to bunker in with every canned food we can find.
Can't people just be ration about it? It DOES have the potential to be far worse and cause far more damage if you pretend it is nothing to worry about. Wuhan didn't go into lock down over 'the flu' nor has Milan. It IS absolutely serious, especially for old or already vulnerable people - take care for THEIR sake, even if not your own.
But on the other hand, don't let it dictate your life. Don't fret endlessly over it. And don't empty shelves and make everyone's lives more inconvenient and difficult for it.

I think you’re both being a little OTT....
Besides anything else, if you have the flu you ain’t gonna wanna eat.
Media over hype.

It's hard to sit on your hands when a little effort could potentially make a big difference.
'Stockpiling' is a subjective term.

A compulsory lockdown of entire neighbourhoods or districts (like there is in parts of Milan) does not necessarily mean all the forcibly quarantined people are ill.
Anyways I always have a good appetite when I have a cold for some strange reason. "Feed a cold, starve a fever.”
I cannot feel a zen-like calm while the corona figures keep climbing.

This coming from someone who has zero medical training.
Besides anything else and in fact it proves my point
People would have to be mentally unbalanced to take medical advice from you

There's nothing to do with sexual desires in Eds post. While I completely disagree with her views on this, she is right to pull you on your constantly insulting nature. You came in both corona threads with insults at everyone who questioned you. You are ego tripping, trying to catch people out all the time and show boat. Well that is because you are a pathetic snowflake who cares more about feelings here, over that of safeguarding people from ignorant views
It has zero to do with ego or show boating
This has to do with the very fact Eddies medical advice is appalling which could lead to possible consequences for people who buy into this
So yet again you get this wrong, as I am not trying to impress anyone

I don’t agree with you hardly at all, but on this you are correct. It’s exactly what Jules and I have done. Of course there will be people who go overboard but for the most part, people are being sensible.
It’s the same with people who live in a hurricane, earthquake or tornado area. They always should have a few weeks supply of food, bottled water and basic essentials on hand. Better to be prepared than caught out.

If eddie's given any advice at all anywhere on here about the coronavirus, it's that people shouldn't freak out about it -- which, by the way, doctors are saying as well.
Thanks, Les, for pointing out Didge's sad attempt to get under mine and eddie's skin.

Wrong again. As I am not trying to get under Eddies skin
She simple is the last person I would take advice from in regards to medical matters
That does not make me like eddie any less. It simple means I think she is clueless in this regard
Saying people should not freak out when they will is also as about as dumb as it gets

You claimed I gave medical advice. You still haven’t said what it is. I’ve asked you many times.
I stated not to take your advice,
I stand by this, because you do not believe in medical science
If you did, you would support vaccines
I stand by this, not to take your advice medically
It would be like placing a 44 magnum against your own head and telling that person to pull the trigger to combat brain cancer

Re: Coronavirus updates (gelico's original thread)
I will ask you one more time, and I hope you answer without the waffle.
Where did I give any medical advice about the Coronavirus?
You still haven’t said.
Don’t worry, I know you can’t answer but will instead make posts about anything other than my question.

I will happily answer eddie
It comes in part of a question to you
Would you expose your own daughter to this virus, or provide her with a potential vaccine?
Hence I already know the answer to many of your points

I hope Bean is feeling better. The whole mess of icky stuff going round this year is just awful and leaves you flat out.
thank you cass, she is
i haven't been ill myself and i dosed up bean with honey, fresh squeezed orange, ginger and brandy, like 3 times and she stayed in bed and the following morning insisted on going in. she puts garlic into just about everything she eats so she's probably more able to fight it than some i guess.
hope you're recovered too. the only thing i can say is to naturally boost your own immune as much as possible x
besides drinking honey, orange and ginger even without having a virus is great because you then just HAVE to add brandy to make it complete

amyhoos, oddly enough the chinese stats have remained static over the last 3 days. the amount of cases has remained around 80,000 and around 3000 deaths with 5,000 serious/critical. nothing has changed. either the virus has miraculously disappeared from China OR they aren't releasing info
hopefully the former but i'm not so sure

That's no answer and you know it. You still haven't answered the question and you probably won't, because you know eddie hasn't dispensed any medical advice about this virus.
