Hundreds of Muslim parents protest school in Britain over LGBT curriculum
First topic message reminder :
Hundreds of Muslim parents and their children – dressed up as superheroes – protested outside a primary school in Britain on Thursday against planned lessons on LGBT rights.
More than 200 protesters organized the demonstration against Parkfield Community School in Birmingham over the school program called “No Outsiders” that includes teachings about homosexuality, including same-sex relationships and marriages, and challenges homophobia.
The organizers accused assistant head Andrew Moffatt, who is gay, of promoting LGBT rights against the wishes of the parents, who carried placards reading “Say no to sexualizing children” and “respect and be respected.”

Right. Some people are just against it because they're nasty/stupid/outright bigots.
Because their is absolutely no good reason to 'oppose' homosexuality.
They might not be nasty bigots Les, just old fashioned, or they might just not understand it. That doesn't mean they're going around shouting at gay people or sounding off about homosexuality. They might be perfectly nice people who just don't understand something.
That view is passable for 60+ year olds. Not parents with 5 year olds.
But I take your point, I should've said nasty/stupid/bigoted or ill-educated.

Young people can be old fashioned too Les. I don't think you should assume that anyone who is against homosexuality is a nasty person.

Anyway, these "lessons" have apparently been suspended. There's really no point in continuing with something that many parents are against - those parents aren't going to change their minds.

Not just nasty, I gave four options. And yes I can. As a gay person, someone being 'against' the idea of me loving someone of the same sex pisses me off.

That's an interesting take
If you ask Muslims they will say the opposite
Muslims generally are raised under sharia law to varying degrees, in the west its influence is lessened somewhat whilst in places like Pakistan and Saudi Arabia its much more pervasive and it forms the morality of that society.
So to a Muslim raised in Pakistan or Saudi Arabia and taught homosexuality is wrong, what right do you have to say they are wrong??
It's your opinion vs theirs
It's your values and morality (such as it is) vs theirs.
So who is right and why??

Well that is very easy to answer two homosexuals as a couple do not hurt anyone including Muslims
A Muslim belief on homosexuality does end up hurting and kill homosexual people
Only a extremist dummy would ask such a lame question
The question you should have asked is whether homosexuality is moral or immoral
I will give you a clue. The answer is neither

That's the thing no one actually gives a shit anymore, personally I think elizel is hanging on to past inequalities that happened to gays before he was born and is somehow making himself a victim of them.
I went to aldi the other day and say two dudes kissing each other in greeting remember it because its unusual but no one gave a shit, no one abused them, the right wingers didn't materialise out of thin air to kick their ass, I didn't pull out rocks from the bag I always carry around with me in case of things like this and start stoning them
Nothing, so where is all this persecution???

Your problem is you want to control how people think and you can't.
You demand people accept your sexuality even if they don't agree with it, but you won't ever accept their views even when you don't agree with it.
You will never be happy because you can't accept that some people won't accept your sexuality, you're not willing to adopt a "if you don't like it go fuck yourself" attitude
You seem Obsessed with trying to force people to change their views to suit you, it's not going to happen and you will be forever pissed off.

Well you see that is the problem
You are judging him simple wanting people to change their illiberal backward beliefs. I fail to see what is wrong in wanting to be accepte.
Where contrary to what you think, people have changed their illiberal backward beliefs and that number is gowing all the time
Most of this has come about through teaching tolerance and showing how unfounded and hateful some of the views held by people are against Homosexuals.
It seems you are actually obsessed with Eizel, due to the fact he is homosexual and it makes me laugh, that it gets right under your nose
The reality is over time, more and more people support gay rights
We still have dinosaurs like you of course, that through your hate ensure there is still a minority of imbiciles that commit hate crimes against homosexuals

There's nowhere near as much hate for Gay people as there used to be, except for some extreme Muslims.
Most people [like me] except it. Just don't push it down our throats as some like to do !

Indeed and that is a good thing, that there is less hate, but sadly some of that hate still exsists and that is a problem

Exactly, extreme Muslims like those in the OP. Fuck those people.
And there are still cases of gay people receiving abuse, being kicked out of taxis, rejected by parents etc. Not me personally, I've been very fortunate.
So no, I do not see myself as oppressed at all, I'm fine
But unlike many RWers I'm not inately selfish and actually give a shit about gay people who are not treated equally.

Do unto others... is a golden rule in every culture. I follow it; people who discriminate against gay people do not.

Homosexuality is not moral. Nor is it immoral. It has absolutely nothing to do with morality, and it's foolish to pretend that it is in an effort to disguise bigotry.

We have parades for the Queen
For the armed forces
Are they pushing down the throat of people?
Do you actually understand the meaning behind "Gay pride" Nicko?
I guess you dont
Gay pride or LGBT pride is the positive stance against discrimination and violence toward lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people to promote their self-affirmation, dignity, equality rights, increase their visibility as a social group, build community, and celebrate sexual diversity and gender variance.
I very much doubt at Gay pride events they have had sex in front of the public, as they would get arrested for indecency. As they would for exposing their genitals
So I really think, on that point, you are talking bollocks mate

The Bible isn't a cultural philosophy its a religious philosophy and if you're quoting "do unto others" its from the bible other cultures might have similar ideas but you quoted the biblical version
So if you follow a message of morality that is grounded in religious doctrine but may appear in other cultures how can you say religious morality is BS when it's clearly the equal of whatever ideas you're following??

Oh dear
You mean how religions plagerized this philosophy?
That does also not mean all religious morality is bullshit, but a substancial part of religious morality is bullshit
That is very evident as it does effect the well being of others
The reality is a number of Christians, which include you smelly, do not abide by the Golden rule. Being as it often conflicts with other Christian morality
One should treat others as one would like others to treat oneself .
Hence often Christian morality conflicts with this very concept
That is where the fallacy of your argument goes wrong

He quoted the golden rule, which was plagerized by the bible authors
Notice that I say authors?
I mean the bible more than likley got this from the Code of Hammurabi
Which was a code of laws
To say he is quoting the bible, when this is basically nearly universally found throughout the world and religions, shows up your ignorance here smelly
Most of the early parts of the bible plagerizes older and earlier Mesopotanian myth stories and laws
The bible does not own the rights to this saying, which clearly you think it does

These Muslim parents are protesting because they don’t believe in Homosexuality end of.
They think their children are too young to be taught this.
They will also object to heterosexual teachings as well.
So it’s not just about gays.

You should read their leaflet
Its very clear this is about homosexuality
This is actually teaching about family relationships
The program also teaches inclusion for Muslims
So do you think its wrong to teach them to be inclusive of Muslims?

There is no ifs and buts about it.
What I object to very vehemently is the treatment given to gays by some Muslim people.

There is plenty of ifs, as how is it a sin?
How is two gay consenting adults harming you or anyone else?
Its not and it effects nobody.
Just because someone or others wrote a book claiming its wrong, does not make it wrong
Again what is the harm in teaching children inclusion?

Dialogue breaking down prejudice
A woman taking part in an anti-Muslim protest in the US changed her mind when a Muslim woman approached her, hugged her and invited her in to the local Mosque to talk. Other supporters talked to the protester calmly to try and get her to see things differently. When she stepped in side the Mosque she was greeted by applause. The Mosque's spokesman said, "We focus on the similarities rather than on things that divide"LI To understand how dialogue can change ideas Watch this clip https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ErxlkMwVrUQ showing the hug and the conversation with the anti-Muslim protestor. In other (longer) clips we can see the man say to the protestor, "We can be friends" and, "How do you know I'm not Muslim?" He questions her calmly and gets her to question her beliefs. Its not and it effects nobody.
Just because someone or others wrote a book claiming its wrong, does not make it wrong
Again what is the harm in teaching children inclusion?
This country is not based on islamic principles, but secular Liberal values
Didge
You are not Muslim so why would you believe it’s a sin????
Yes I believe in the Holy Quran fully.
I never said the UK is a Muslim country have I?

So why should this country teach this as a sin?
Why cannot this country rightly challenge poor beliefs, that end up excluding people in society?
So Sexy, you may think its a sin and some other Muslims as well.
That does not mean schools can teach inclusion of homosexual people.
The whole concept is "No outsiders"
Not to exlcude some
Muslims have to except we live by Secular Liberal values and laws in this society or they dont except and they can leave to find somewhere that does exclude homosexuals

No Didge I never stated that there should be an inclusion
I just gave you the reason for their protest.

See the leaflet sexy, as that is the reason. They are trying to supercede their beliefs, other the rights of homosexuals
And it seems they are quite happy to teach their children that homosexuality is a sin
Age appropiate?
I mean they say they are too young to learn inclusion of homosexual families, but no doubt quite happy to teach intolerance to their children in regards to homosexuals
They can protest, but by 2020 its going to be madatory this training.

There is no ifs and buts about it.
What I object to very vehemently is the treatment given to gays by some Muslim people.
That’s not acceptable.

What a couple of homosexuals does behind closed doors is up to them... but it is wrong to start trying to brainwash 5 year old children about it...
Leave the children alone!!!

Good, if they cannot abide by the secular laws in this country, they will find little joy as well in Israel. They might in parts of the US, where homophobia is rife
So if Muslims do not like this. They also have the option to leave

They think their children are too young to be taught this.
They will also object to heterosexual teachings as well.
So it’s not just about gays.
It's not really about their beliefs though, it's about people. There are plenty of gay Muslim kids who, more than most, will struggle in silence. This is for them too.

Re: Hundreds of Muslim parents protest school in Britain over LGBT curriculum
You can't change people's beliefs, and you can't stop them telling their children what they think is right or wrong. If schools insist on going against this, they will just have more protests on their hands.
Telling Muslims (or anyone else) that they should leave this country if they don't like it is showing intolerance and bigotry.

Talk about homosexuality and how best to purge it no doubt!!
But you raise a good point mama, what makes elizels view of homosexuality the correct one???
That's what it's down to.
Why does Eilzel think he is right and Muslims are wrong.
You believe in the blood book which teaches death to gays, from the Muslim view, that is correct
But why is that view correct and elizel wrong??
