London majority-Muslim school scraps sex segregation - despite angry parents' complaints

The principal of a majority-Muslim school in northeast London has said he will not allow a “militant minority" of parents to derail his plans to abolish gender segregation. The Crest Academies school was formed by the merger of adjacent two single-sex schools last year, and prior to the arrival of new principal Mohsen Ojja had a “wall of segregation” down the middle of the campus to ensure that boys and girls couldn’t interact, even outside the classroom. The only non-faith, segregated school in Brent, northeast London, it was put under special measures after failing an Ofsted inspection in February 2015 – and Mr Ojja said it was an “easy decision” to work towards better integration of the sexes.
He has announced that, starting this September, classes and common areas will be mixed, the school’s name will be changed to a singular Crest Academy, and each child will get a new school blazer for free which reflects the “rebrand”.

Ban all religious schools full stop and we do away with pandering to myths.
All schools should be secualr and will go a long way to integration

Why should we ban all religious schools?
You only say that because you dislike religion.

There are many reasons Eddie, this being one, second many are biased to religious views just as we see here which are counter British society.There is the problem of views on women, homosexuals etc how they are taught, when there has been much evidence showing a religious bias that is counter again to equal rights for them. You have within Christian schools a bias on selection where they admit many of the best students. I can go on the list is endless but the point is there is no need for a religious run school. Religion is a belief, can you imagine a KKK run school or a Nazi run school, would you be happy or comfortable about that? Remeber religions are just ideologies that have views espcially the Abrahamic faiths that conflict with the well being and equality of groups of people.

So to say I dislike religion is a poor answer it has everything to do with being balanced and all receiving a fair chance to be taken on by a school and a balanced unbiased education.

This is not a faith school. Just that when Muslims make up large numbers they start to try to change and run things.


Also it appears to be only the Muslim faith schools that are the real problem ones...
