A local term/phrase used instead of the usual: 'it came down like a cow piss'n on a flat rock' > > >Major wrote:What is a "monsoon"?
Monsoon (UK: /mɒnˈsuːn/; US: /mɑːnˈsuːn/) is traditionally defined as a seasonal reversing wind accompanied by corresponding changes in precipitation, but is now used to describe seasonal changes in atmospheric circulation and precipitation associated with the asymmetric heating of land and sea. Usually, the term monsoon is used to refer to the rainy phase of a seasonally changing pattern, although technically there is also a dry phase. The term is sometimes incorrectly used for locally heavy but short-term rains.

Pleased, that the bids coming in for my house insulation; attic - crawl space - north exterior walls, replacement windows on the north side as well ...have been well within my allotted budget for this project. Now to just verify the references - verify the BBB rating - verify their lic. & insurance bonds and I'll pick the best one and get some dates set.

MY 'PAW-PAW' trees have born fruit~~~ YIPPEEEE
I've planted a pair of 'Paw-Paw' tree's 8 years ago; I've nurtured them and when they bloomed 3 years ago I was ecstatic and so hopeful that I'd see some fruit ...then we'd have a late freeze and those beautiful purple blossoms just froze and nothing - NADA ...same thing for the next 2 years in succession.
But this year - THIS YEAR, I managed to staple some news paper around as many of the branches as I could reach in hopes that my attempt to protect those blossoms would work - and then I forgot all about them long after removing the papers off. Until the other day, while watering down my chicken outside pens ...looking up into the branches of my Paw-Paw tree and I was stunned - there they were - some in clusters, similar to a banana group - some in single little nodgals - not very large - not as flat as I'd thought they'd be - but a total of 18 Paw-Paw fruit pods from both trees. I've talked those trees up so much to a couple of neighbors that they've been as excited, or more so - since they remember picking them up as children; so I took some over to share with them ...we've got to see whose ripens first! Since I wasn't about to risk leaving them out there any longer to the elements/birds/pack rats/squirrels and who know what might get to them before I did - I picked them all - all that I could find. They do blend in with those same shade of green leaves on the trees.
Forgive my bragging, but this has been a long waited 'great expectation' event in my little world!

Go right ahead and brag. I know how treasured is the moment when plants kiss you back. So often they wilt and weep when you had such dreams for them, your children.
Congratulations...and good job. Happy for ya...

Re: Say What Pleased You Today
Today was a good day:
* Didn't even have to use my AK
* Got my awesome new computer set up (16 gigs of RAM!!!)
* Cooler weather meant me and the dog enjoyed our walks more and walked a lot farther than we have been
* Grilled out for dinner, everything came out perfectly and I can still smell the hickory smoke in my clothes
* Heading out for some fun tomorrow in one of my favorite places on Earth:

Walking my puppy. Lovely day and she's learning to chase me - which is good, otherwise I'm just a loser running in the field on my own.
Can't wait for her to have longer walks though. She's only allowed 20 mins at the moment

I'v had two Springers they can tire you out, always into things, never still, need lots of exercise. If you don't mind a bit of advice keep your eyes on their ears, they are prone to ear infections ear mites for instance and if been for a run in the fields check between their toes for grass seeds.
Sorry if you know all this, just trying to help.

Yep, grass seeds are hooked and can cause so much trouble.
There are dalso a massive amount of ticks about this year, mostly in wooded areas. Our local vet said that dogs were having problems with them back in February and they aren't normally about until May/June. They carry all kinds of disease and also if you don't know how to take them out properly the heads are left attached and can turn nasty.

I'm down in Kent visiting my beautiful Lisa. We are planning her "'celebration of life party" as her last chemo (hopefully) is over.
We have spent all day about nine hours, singing, dancing, duetting and reminiscing whilst listening to music for our playlist. Lots of whiskey.
We are now sitting in bed together. Shes still singing

After a long intense on line tête-à-tête with my bank account calling them twats for not making it crystal clear whether payments were debits or credits, and screaming down the phone at Amazon accusing someone of fraud, I finally got the truth.
What I thought were regular debit payments are actually book royalty credits.
Who'd have thunk it!

Judging from the payments, yes. I was a bit gobsmacked as you tend to go by the reviews. I have 12 in the UK and 16 from the US. But clearly lots are buying without leaving a review. This novel was a bit of a bucket list thing, really. But I'm glad I did it.

Contrary to what that bitter and twisted old hag, Edna said...the reviews are not from all my friends. Amazon actually remove any suspect reviews.

That’s what I said to Ben. Even if our book doesn’t sell, we bloody did it! (And both of us are really bad at finishing anything so this will be a great moment for us individually)
We are actually really excited about the next ones to come. We have a couple of great ideas.
And you should be well proud of yourself. X
