Please note -- a class of words we don't want to see here
First topic message reminder :
It's been brought to my attention that we've never banned insults that single out a specific gender, which was a massive oversight on my behalf. So from here on, nothing along the lines of "bitch" or worse.
Use your own judgment, of course. Insults aren't always insults among friends, right? And some are milder than others -- I don't see us banning "silly cow," for example.
Mods, please help me out on this one.

I know. But I prefer to say thanks with just words. I'll save the green awards for insightful political points, and well researched academic points. Rather than the personal stuff.eddie wrote:Jules wrote:
I was saying it would have been wrong if it had been ME who had given him the green, as a reward for praising me. It would have been too self serving.
But it's ok that it was you (or anyone else) who gave it, as there's no vested interest there.
You did nothing wrong.
Sorry if my post came out wrong, Quill.
You can give a green to someone who praises you. What’s wrong with that? Someone appreciates you, so just accept it and enjoy it.

Absolutely brilliant post, Wolf. Particularly the Youtube. It's an exercise in 'analysis', not just for automobiles, but abstractly, how to determine cause and effect.
Oh yes, and in the meantime I learned what a poppet is.

Original Quill wrote:It was my post. I only wanted that part of your post that described the RW'ers. I didn't borrow your "opinion", but your adjectives. It was my prerogative.
May I suggest: Strunk and White, The Elements of Style (1918).
Strunk and White is an American-English literary style guide, so thanks for the suggestion, but my own choice would be either the UK Financial Times Style Guide, on the not unreasonable ground that I once worked on one of its associated newspapers, or the UK Press Gazette editorial style book. And that is my prerogative.
You weren't "borrowing" my adjectives, you were borrowing a selection, albeit uncharacteristically unvulgar for him, of those routinely applied by your friend Wolfie to any member of this forum who tends to stray a soupcon (before you mention it, I do know what a cidila is; it's just that I don't know where to find a convenient one) to the Right of Fidel Castro.
I certainly would not expect you to borrow any of my "opinions" (sic - quotation marks are superfluous in this instance) - mine are far too moderate for you.

Strunk and White is published by Britannica Books. But WTF, it's always served me well.

The essence of writing is to say what you want to say. You cannot misquote, but you definitely can point out to your interlocutor that a certain passage is attributable him or her. Indeed, that way you can be certain the two of you are on the same subject.
I really would prefer not to borrow anything from you, but unfortunately your words perfectly framed the subject that I wanted to address. I would have said the same remarks if anyone else had framed the subject...particularly if they were uniquely expressed by choice modifiers and pronouns.
I see no reason in redefining the subject, especially if your words provide a tacit common understanding.

The slurs he uses are indeed different when abusing Male members as opposed to female ones, I suspect because he ain't bright enough to find sufficient for the men.
Likewise quill, with his targeted and deliberately poisonous attacks on nicko, he is however somewhat more loquacious and educated than Wolfe, but no less of a thug in his own way
Unless I'm told to do otherwise I will continue to mod based on what I consider the intent, obviously informed by Ben's new requirement.
If, like Wolfe you lack the moral fiber to self moderate, I will can you like a handful of beans
Juvenile is the reason I've not posted here for a while. This whole forum revolves around a handful of idiots who can't be civil to save their lives. It got that tedious for me, I've stopped posting here. They're like worms at the rotten core of an apple. The bottom line, it's boring and dull and predictable. I came back on here today just in case things might have improved, but no. Rinse and repeat. No wonder this place gets few new members.
Over and out.

You've posted right underneath my post which was meant to be some daft stuff to lighten the mood.
The mood in this thread is now serious again, so ...... back to square 1.

Horatio, I know you were not referring to me in that post, cos I have NEVER fallen out with you on here.
So maybe you will listen to me if I try to reason with you??
Most forums fit the description you posted.
Most forums are ''repetitive & predictable''
Cos life is repetitive & predictable ...... forums simply reflect this.
It's a myth that any site is perfect. It's a myth that there are some wonderful forums out there that keep getting new members every two minutes. Genuine new members, that is.
The grass always looks greener on t'other side. Essentially, ALL forums are in the same boat.
Over & out from me too.

You are a fucking gutless and two-faced liar, Victor -- as usual; so no real surprises there....
I insult and abuse a small number of females on here -- certainly not all of them, but only that nasty little handful who often gang up on their selected targets on here.. And with my insults only reflecting the nature of their attacks against me.
You, on the other hand, remain the same nasty old bigot that you have always been..
No accident there, that you only ever basement me, Andy, Quill, and Didge -- but never once have you even reprimanded, let alone basemented, even one of your English female trolls for far worse breaches than I have ever committed..
You despicable self serving waste of space...

What a pity that some posters have to resort to name-calling and insults. I simply don’t understand that amount of hatred.

Yes I am. It's a meta conclusion based on many, many posts. Based upon the evidence I reckon she was uninsightful.
