Please note -- a class of words we don't want to see here
It's been brought to my attention that we've never banned insults that single out a specific gender, which was a massive oversight on my behalf. So from here on, nothing along the lines of "bitch" or worse.
Use your own judgment, of course. Insults aren't always insults among friends, right? And some are milder than others -- I don't see us banning "silly cow," for example.
Mods, please help me out on this one.

Gels, i do tend to agree with you, I’m never bothered by people calling me names, but some people do care.

So, no more dickhead, twat or allusions to sex parts? Does 'fuck' come in here? I always use 'fook'...may I make it a suggestion?

Well, seeing as nicko called his wife a dickhead, and I just called you a twat -- no, sorry -- you twat! -- those don't qualify as gender-specific insults, I'm afraid. And I'm quite fond of calling women assholes, simply because it's funny to me.
No problem whatsoever with cursing, I fucking love cursing. Just don't use words that single out one gender.
Re: Please note -- a class of words we don't want to see here
'Twat' is a reference to the vulva. 'Dick' is a reference to the penis. Those are gender-specific, sex parts.
'Asshole' is not...we all have one, and my golden retriever sure has one. 'Tits' and 'breasts' are gender specific sex parts.
Hell, as long as we are on gender-related banning, expressions like 'limp-wristed' are sex specific. Can we speak of pregnancy? Is a woman's 'bump' forbidden?
Gonna be mighty dull around here.

Well, I back the site owner’s decision but I remain of the thought that NO words should be banned.
And let’s face it, Quill, if someone called Les a “queer” or some other offensive gay slur, you’d be up in arms.

Re: Please note -- a class of words we don't want to see here
That’s the trouble with insults (and they’re just words really) everyone is different and offended by something different.
Perhaps we should learn not to be offended rather than banning “offensive words” which are just letters written in a certain way.
“S l a g” is just “Agls” or “Gals” if you move the letters around. Right? Right!

Yes, but policies aren't specifics. We can put up examples all day. But somewhere, sometime, you're going to run into a contradiction.

I'm a snowflake looking for a safe space where no one can call me "daft, silly, naughty or bad". I mean it!! I hope my feelings on the matter will be taken into consideration, thanks in advance.

What? The one about "'S l a g' is just “Agls” or “Gals”? I thought it was a damn fine point.
The US Supreme Court argued about 'bad' words in the obscenity debate...for years. Hard and fast rules would have banned half of the great novels in the world.
They finally threw up their hands and said: "I know it when I see it!" Some rule.

I agree with you.
It's not the individual words ...I couldn't care less if someone calls me a silly cow or an ugly old harridan....water of a ducks back springs to mind.
What is more disruptive imo is the constant barage of random abuse aimed at certain female posters here .... I find that ruins the forum somewhat lately.
Sometimes it feels like we are back in the playground the names are so pathetically childish.
That's my take on it anyway.

I mean does this not come from a sexist stance that women cannot defend themselves over words?
I certainly think the women posters on here can and have often done so
You cannot have an unqual policy ben, which only seeks to protect women and not men

What about other nationalist and racist epithets besides "redneck"...
I've seen some Brit's getting upset over "Paki'" and "wogs" on here, because of the insulting way that they are used over there -- even though they don't (at least not yet..) carry the same connotations down here..
What would the cricket be like if matches against Pakistan had to be talked about without using the neutral term "paki's", but instead use the term Pakistani's -- even more confusing if those from the Punjab were to be referred to as "Punjabi", rather than which team they played for.
"And the Punjabi Indian bowler bowls to the Punjabi Pakistani batsman.. and the Tibetan-Buddhist-exile Indian wicketkeeper catches him out mid-run.. oh, what a wonderful day this is for sub-continental cricket."
And I've seen Brit's on here throwing around terms like "Abo" and "boong", and calling ex-colonial natives "savages" and "criminals" -- terms that veya and I know to be 'racially' offensive, but that often go over many peoples' heads on here..
And then there's all of those Americans too afraid to "call a spade a spade" these days -- I've seen one idiot hardware chain down here labelling all of those digging implements being relabelled as "shovels" in their garden section.. WTF -- are they scared that might offend some American tourist who wanders into one of their shops at some future date ?

And how about the snowflake brigade's 'thought police' also ban friendly labels like "Yankee", "Pommie", "Aussie" and "Kiwi"...
Just because somewhere down the track, maybe in another 50 or 100 years, someone starts using them in a more derogative and insulting way than normally..

This all comes down to the biggest Misogynist on here, namely Wolfie. Perhaps it's because I'm an old man,,, but I was brought up to respect Women, not all obviously ,but when I was young I would have no hesitation in decking a "man" who insulted a Women like Wolfie does, something I have done in the past. It must be the way he was dragged up, or due to a Women turning him down in the past. At home he is a Wimp who wouldn't say Boo to a Goose !

Personally, I find it damn difficult these days to know just who is of which gender...half the population appears to be wanting to be the other sex; changing into the other sex; changed into the other sex and wants to change back again or is even a bit of both.

Reading some of the fool's posts it is hard to avoid the conclusion that he's just a silly, attention-seeking buffoon who probably derives some sort of sexual gratification from it.

Re: Please note -- a class of words we don't want to see here
My youngest has a cross/neutral gender bestest friend who my daughter wants me to call 'they' rather than he or she.
For the record, she/they (not my daughter, who is the prettiest girl in the world) has lovely hair, doe eyes, pretty face , great boobs and a shape most models would die for.
Very hard not to think of 'they' as a girl.

At the end of the day they are simple slurs, hence the new rule is a joke, espcially when it places emphasis only one one sex. Allow debate to flow

I can't think of any slurs against men that fit the definition of the slurs that are banned here.
We ban slurs that target someone for, and only for, being a certain color, religion, sexual orientation, and now gender.
Didge was trying to act like I've only banned anti-woman slurs. That's not true, I said in the OP that any slur against a gender is now banned.
The n word slurs a black person simply and only for being black; the s-lag word slurs a woman simply and only for being a woman.
Dickhead, prick, wanker, etc. don't slur men for the simple fact that they're men -- they carry the same connotation as asshole.

Will we all become collectively offended if gay people suddenly get upset by the word “gay”?
Do we only become offended ourselves when other groups suddenly become offended?
If it doesn’t offend you already why does it take other’s offence to make us suddenly offended?
Anyone answer that?
