First topic message reminder :

It has been brought up that Korben includes a link to a video that uses Andrea Borman's face in his signature.

Now, as much as our membership comes from the UK and is also spread around the world, it was founded in the U.S. and I'll run it according to U.S. freedom of expression laws, which I'm familiar with but which might be a bit weird to some of you.

Andrea Borman has a YouTube channel with 10s of thousands of hits; she has a blog; she has used her face all over the Internet. Her activities are notorious and have inspired at least a few parody items similar to Korben's videos; here's one:

So Korben's links are what we call "fair comment and criticism" here in the U.S. When you're famous or a fame-seeker, that's part of the territory.

NOW -- it has been (rather insouciantly) suggested to me that when I said the above in a private message, what I meant was that it's fine to use the images of other posters.

Obviously that's wrong, and you have to be either really thick or really anti-me to think that's what I meant. It's fair to use another person's image when they want to be seen and known, but if they're not trying to increase their public profile, we're not going to allow photos of them to be used as avatars, etc.

Please let me know if there are any questions.

Yeah, I chose the username when I was heavily into Spider-man, didn't want to use Peter Parker as I thought that would be too obvious (but I briefly went by Peter Parker on Shortnews when they had a problem with accounts getting locked).

Weirdly enough, I never wanted the underscore, but Shortnews didn't allow two-word names at the time so I added it. I signed up on NewsHabit as Ben Reilly (no underscore) and then I think Caution changed it, so I just came to accept it.

ANYway ...

But it was a comic in the 70s it was the only one that was about 2 *A4 wide and half a A4 high always had a poster in the center spanning the two pages about 3 ft long
i used to buy two every week ,one for the poster that i covered my wall with and one for the collection
i had about 2000 comics but when we moved from wath-upon dern  dad left them in a wardrobe promising to get them later ...he never did  Sad

I would say those comics had a great influence on my moral compass
And the ideals and morals displayed in the comics have in no small way made me the person i am today
Later re enforced by science fiction
