Gay Marriage declared legal across the USA!
First topic message reminder :
So, the Supreme Court of the United States just legalized same sex marriages across the whole of the USA. They have declared the bans on it as 'unconstitutional'. Great news America! Though was this ever really in doubt longterm?
Gonna be a fair few weeping conservatives tonight I imagine, might want to be careful they don't cause the Mississippi to flood there

I take joy from knowing I am my own person, with my own opinion, happy in my own skin, with my own straight life, not having to let my sexuality define me because I am happy to be me!!!
wonder why you need to try so hard to impress people and attack women verbally perhaps you are trying to prove something you lack.....

clearly not since you choose to attempt to dictate to others how they should live their lives, even when that life style has NO effect upon you or yours.
Now, not withstanding the fact i choose to chllenge you for this, you will note that I soley keep my dislike of your ideas to the point where you try to oobtain that YOUR rights are greater than someone elses....How many times do I have to repeat that you are quite free to hold to your belief (even if i DO consider you wrong (as in a purely philosophical sense))
up to the point YOUR rights erode the lawful rights of others???
If as you say, you are so happy with your lot....why do you choose to stamp on others enjoyment of something that is the right of all free thinking people? and moreover choose to do so with disingenious and hyperbolic nonsense....
wonder why you need to try so hard to impress people and attack women verbally perhaps you are trying to prove something you lack.....
wonder if you are too dumb to see the iron in that...oh wait...you also missed the point of my post to ragga...thats telling....
I dont need to "impress people....since 90% of folks on here are merely pixels on a screen....
besides which I dont need "other peoples approbation....I KNOW, without shadow of doubt that, specialities apart, i know more about a greater number of subjects than any 3 of you put together....
Add to that an intellect the size of a major planet and an ego bigger than the known universe and clearly I am absolutely beyond your scope.....

lol I do not and cannot dictate to anyone how to live their lives, in life you can only advise, people live how they want to live that is fine with me... but they need to realise their are always consequences with choices and I feel i would be amiss if i did not make people aware of that fact...

not necessarily divine wrath but certainly judgement as far as I believe but we have to consider the long term affects of the growth of abnormal and unnatural relationships...

highly unlikely since the level of homosexuality is so low as to not affect the species as a whole, indeed it may prove beneficial in keeping the population a little lower than it otherwise would be....I think we have far more immediate things to worry about that might casue extiction....
like nuclear war
yellowstone park and its brothers across the world
or a sodding great space rock
or an unmanageable flu outbreak
or climate change (man made or not...it IS changing)
all 5 of which are at present FAR more likely than a homo-armageddon

if the levels are so low why even consider it at all just stamp it out for the nuisance it is and let people get on with normal lives...
why waste valuable tax payers time and money on something that affects such a tiny minority, such a tiny minority which points out it is unnatural and abnormal..

however you forget ...the levels of YOUR particular branch of virulent ideology is ALSO at a very low level...so should we also stamp that out for the nuisance it is and let people get on with normal lives?
YOU are in a tiny minority which points out that YOU are unnatural and abnormal?
that is before we start to look at moral questions about what is normal and what is reasonable and what is "fair"

I'm not sure you can call Christians a tiny minority and when you consider many of our long standing laws are based upon biblical precepts, along with dating systems, Christianity and the bible are very important to society and its history...

It is certainly hugely relevant to our history HF, you have to be both blind and stupid not to recognise that, for both good AND ill of course.
Of how great a relevance they are to todays society is another thing.
You of course are quite certain YOU are right, however you have to face the fact thay you ARE now a minority (bear in mind that many folks who say they are "christian" do so because they feel they have to tick a box...not becasue they either particularly believe or practice)

Yes Obama was against gay marriage, so were most westerners years and years ago, but views changed.

to be fair, and you realised. that pandering was the only word i could think of .Original Quill wrote:korban dallas wrote:
yes i think it was before he won the election the first time but to get elected in the states this is the kind of "pandering "they have to do.....sad but true all presidents have done it too one degree or another
The first time around (2008) Dr. Obama declared he was against gay marriage. Yes, I guess it was pandering of a sort.
During an appearance on Meet the Press in May 2012, Vice President Joe Biden stated he was in favor of full same-sex marriage rights, indicating a shift his position. Biden clarified that these were his personal views and not necessarily the views of the Obama administration.
After Biden's outing the administration, so to speak, a couple of days later Dr. Obama said, "At a certain point I've just concluded that for me, personally, it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same-sex couples should be able to get married."
He later indicated his views were evolving: "I had hesitated on gay marriage, in part, because I thought civil unions would be sufficient," he said. "I was sensitive to the fact that -- for a lot of people -- that the word marriage is something that provokes very powerful traditions and religious beliefs."
if he had said in 2008 he was for gay marriage ( a term i am not keen on) he would never have been elected because as you say it`s something that provokes very powerful traditions,in many ways analogous to gun control really and as we have seen the confederate flag
hence why the republican presidential candidates are jumping all over these issues at the moment ........but they haven`t grasped the fact american attitudes are changing to these issues
its like how earthquakes happen i guess pressure builds slowly till they is a sudden shift and it was a 9.6 for gay rights and the remnants of slavery

the bible is excellent and consistent, with knowledges before it's time....
by simple cross referencing both scripture, other versions, and concordances it is quite easy to keep in context.

heavenlyfatheragain wrote:the bible is excellent and consistent, with knowledges before it's time....

In Matthew 2, it makes it clear that Jesus was conceived during the reign of Herod and was a young child when Herod died.
After Herod died, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt and said, “Get up, take the child and his mother and go to the land of Israel, for those who were trying to take the child’s life are dead.”
We know that Herod died in 4 BC, so we know that Jesus must have been born in 4 BC or shortly beforehand.
In Luke 2, it is made clear that Jesus was born during the census of Quirinius
In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) And everyone went to their own town to register. ... He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son.
Quirinius became governor of Syria and performed his census in 6 AD. From this we know that Jesus must have been born in 6 AD.
This is a nine year discrepancy between the time of Jesus' birth as recorded by Matthew and the time of Jesus' birth as recorded by Luke. How can these two accounts be reconciled?

the Greatest
A City Council member in Shreveport, La., has abandoned his effort to repeal an LGBT-inclusive antidiscrimination ordinance, following outcry from the public, including a transgender woman who dared him to stone her to death.
The council passed the ordinance in December by a vote of 6-1, following a successful campaign by a pro-LGBT coaltion known as Be Fair Shreveport. The ordinance, which bans discrimination in housing and employment within city limits on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity, received its lone "no" vote from Councilman Ron Webb. During the council's debate last December, Webb voiced his opposition, saying, "The Bible tells you homosexuals are an abomination," adding that he does not socialize with LGBT people

Re: Gay Marriage declared legal across the USA!
And ... I've said it before but it bears repeating ...
If there were no religious justification for homophobia, we'd still have homophobes, because we'd still have people with irrational fears of people who are unlike them in ways that don't really matter.
But religion provides the cover-story that you're doing God's work; it makes bad people feel like they're doing good, whether their prefered initials are ISIS or SBC.
