Ireland's Gay Day
Yes vote to equal marriage, Eurovision is on, apparently al rainbow over Cork, has to be officially the gayest day in Irish history.

Re: Ireland's Gay Day
Ireland didn't make it to the final of Eurovision.
Rainbows are nothing to do with being gay.

Re: Ireland's Gay Day
The rainbow flag, commonly the gay pride flag and sometimes the LGBT pride flag, is a symbol of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) pride and LGBT social movements
It wasn't said Ireland was in Eurovision, however it it a 'gay icon' show, especially after who won it last year, and it is on the same day that Ireland voted yes.
Sometimes Rags, unless all the dots are joined up very carefully, you just don't get things.

Ridiculous.

Well done Ireland and all my Christian relatives and family there who voted "Yes". Very proud, showing the perfect kind of "Christian values".

The comparison that Benjamin Cohen (the founder of Pink News) and Scott Mills (the BBC Radio 1 DJ who now commentates on Eurovision semi-finals) have made between Eurovision and the World Cup in recent interviews is only one of several nicknames that imagine Eurovision as a ‘gay’ version of a ritual celebration:

Sassy, I don't care what gay journalists say - they don't own Eurovision, and trying to make into a gay thing is just attention seeking.

I'm not dense - as you well know. You only say that because I don't toe the usual line on here. I'm just bored with all this "gay" stuff. People are people - why does something have to be "gay"? It's a song competition, or possibly a political competition, there's no need for it to be gay as well.

Another Irish referendum fix... just like the EU one...
If the Irish parliament had tried to bring this in there would have been outrage... so why not let the people think it was them who agreed to it and just fix the result...!
I don't believe it for a minute...

You know what Tommy, you're pathetic. If it goes you're way, then it's got to be ok, if it doesn't you have a tantrum like a two year old and scream, 'Mummy, Mummy, it's a fix, they didn't agree with my bigoted views'. You're a joke, a nasty bygone era that has been passed by and it's ignorance overthrown.

No, I just don't believe it has that much support, especially in Ireland.
And if you think about it rationally, this yes result stinks of a fix...

Well being as I actually have Irish relatives, plenty of them and I know they are unanimously voted yes, being as they are all Christian, shows how out of touch you are with reality. Ireland is in the rural areas still very strict in their faiths, but not so much in the cities of Ireland, especially the youth. Then there is not the slightest shred of evidence to your claim, just your usual paranoia.

Raggs stop being a damn stick in the mud. Ok it isn't a 'gay show', but it is famously unofficially associated with the gay community. And as you well know rainbow flags are a symbol of gay equality. You're either masking a general underlying hostility to LGBT rights or you're just being really dense.
Matti, you are totally delusional, so up your own egotistical arse that if things don't follow your expectations you throw out every excuse under the sun. Gay marriage isn't the EU. There is no reason for a fix here even it if was suspicious. What this highlights is the rapid dissolving of your antiquated, bigoted world view- get over it.

Stick in the mud? I just don't see why everything has to be turned into a "gay" thing these days. I don't give a shit what the "gay community" thinks. Why do they have to claim things as their own? What the referendum in Ireland has to do with Eurovision is anyone's guess.
You're the second person to call me "dense" on this thread. I know exactly what Sassy's doing - I just choose not to pander to her. You're not exactly brimming over with intelligence, so you have no call to say anyone else is "dense".
As for this "hostility" which you're hinting at, I don't give a stuff who's gay and who isn't - I'm just a bit tired of hearing about it.

Re: Ireland's Gay Day
Irish citizens have been sharing photographs and stories on social media as they travel home to vote in the gay marriage referendum.
Ireland could become the first country to legalise same-sex marriage through a referendum. More than 3 million people are eligible to vote, including 60,000 expats. Those who have left the country less than 18 months ago are able to vote in the referendum, but need to show up at a polling station in person.
Before the vote on Friday, Twitter was filled with pictures of people returning home to have their say on gay marriage, with some decorating their trains accordingly:
Naomi O'Leary @NaomiOhReally
This is the scene on the 9:10 London to Holyhead train as Irish abroad return #hometovote #marref
Others, upon their return, found their parents had decorated for them:
Kevin Beirne
@KevBeirne
Came #hometovote all the way from London and found my mum had made some subtle changes to my room for me #VoteYes

Remember how you insisted on posting on HF's thread? You went on a thread clearly marked as being one for Christian stuff and said you were sick of it. You even said he should post it on a different forum.
Don't moan about people questioning Christianity when you keep trying to shove it down our throats every day. Keep you devotionals to religious sites.

There lies your problem and nobody is forcing you to read these threads, so why are you even commenting on them? That is a sign of bitterness and resentment to the yes vote here. This matters to many people that this is another step towards equality for people. This is not just about the gay community, it is about stepping closer to achieving equality for all people. If you cared about equality, you would thus also care about the gay community obtaining equality. So clearly you do not care much for equality.

Do stop yibbering you silly little man. It was perfectly obviously to anyone who had been following this that the views in Ireland had completely swung round and the only ones against it were the clergy, and thankfully, no-one takes the slightest bit of notice of them anymore.

62% is not unbelievable. It's a two option vote, and based on previous polls could have been higher. Was 60% of Scots voting to keep the Union unbelievable? What do you expect of the EU referendum result?

Re: Ireland's Gay Day
Voting to keep the 300 year union with the rest of the country the same is a bit different to voting to allow same sex marriage.
And in Ireland of all places...
The media have just been showing loads ed gays and lesbians who are obvious supporters of it but they only make up less than 1% ofthe population with the majority of the rest being cold towards homosexuality and even more likely to be against any homosexual marriage.
The result snacks of a fix... simple as that.

This matters to many people that this is another step towards equality for people. This is not just about the gay community, it is about stepping closer to achieving equality for all people. If you cared about equality, you would thus also care about the gay community obtaining equality. So clearly you do not care much for equality.
Why have you quoted your own post again? I wasn't replying to you, I was referring to the "gay community's" claim about Eurovision.
Really?
Some how I do not believe you.

^rags, you are not seeing the connection between LGBT rights and the rainbow- that is like not seeing the connection between Santa and Christmas. What word is there but dense?
You mean they hijacked rainbows. I prefer to think of rainbows as belonging to everyone, not just the "gay community".
There's no need for you to be so rude anyway. I'm not rude to you in that manner, even when you're being dense.
Riiiiiiiiiiiiiggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhtttttttttttttt! So if a group using a symbol to represent them have 'hijacked' it? Well the British rugby team had better give the Lion sign back etc etc etc. And I've never know Eilzel to be dense, disagreed with him many times, but dense is not a adjective that can be applied to him.

Tommy Monk wrote:Voting to keep the 300 year union with the rest of the country the same is a bit different to voting to allow same sex marriage.
And your evidence for this claim to a fix?
An out of touch view of the Irish people.
That is it, where I am part Irish and again know many people voted yes.
You have no evidence, just complete an utter paranoia.
There is thus no justification for your claims, except bitterness and being sour.
