Eh? I was referring to the men who might want to join a men's club because they went through a bad divorce or whatever, not gay men.

No problem - I should probably have highlighted the bit I was replying to.

Re: gay only resort!!! is this legal....??
Anyway, apparently a lesbian was barred from the Tom's Cruise bar in this West Key resort. She was told that the reason for that is that some of the gay men get their kit off in the garden, and lesbians and non-gay men might not like it. I'm not sure if that's all they do in the garden, but if it is, then why would anyone object to that - if they didn't object to naturism in general that is?

I think that’s the nature of the problem: discrimination is a process of lumping a “group’ together for purposes of disenfranchising.

There’s a chicken and egg problem here: first came discrimination, then came talking about it. Discrimination is a form of prejudice...prejudice is a contraction meaning 'pre' and 'judgment', which is what discrimination does. So there is the chicken and egg problem of which came first. Prejudice literally means the discrimination came first.
Gay people have a right to a normal life, but those who would discriminate invade that normal life and try to take it away from them. True, they can be likeable or unlikeable, as fits their personality, but don’t take the opportunity to live a normal life away from them. We don't prejudge them.
Where is “West Key”…I am familiar with most parts of London, but I don’t recognize this.

The Key West resort is in Torquay - got the words the wrong way round.
I think it's wrong to lump people together - it's better to see them as individuals.
I don't follow the drift of your last point at all. I was merely observing that gay people are just as capable of discriminating against others, or judging others. I don't like this assumption that they are always "victims".

Oh, ok...now I understand.

Most people feel that way. So, why do people who are prejudiced lump people together? Yet they do it all the time.

Then you should be on the anti-discrimination side. Gays are only 'victims' because people pre-judge them wrongly. They don't like being victims, just as you don't like speaking of them as victims. If we work together to stop victimizing them, then we won't call them victims.
Lol...I fell like we've made a breakthrough here.

You still miss the point don't you?
Its because of you that such places exist and are needed as a sanctuary away from the daily discrimination faced from you and others that do not treat them as equals. You have never treated homosexuals as equals, you claim they are not normal, that is inequality. If your bigotry did not exist, they would have no need of such refugees away from hate.
So they are not treated as equals, you certainly do not treat them as equals.
Thinking that someone isn't normal isn't discrimination, and it's not the same as inequality. Some gay people might think that non-gay people are not normal.
Anyway, these gay clubs aren't about refuge IMO, they're mostly places to meet other gay people.
Er I think you will find it is discrimination and to claim some homosexuals may wrongly view people is not an excuse for anyone to do so , that is just idiotic. That is like saying some black people might be racist, as if trying to justify racism against them.

Where as some men certainly do face discrimination, this is far removed from where a homosexual is stereotyped and discriminated against by a group of bigoted people in society daily. The men here have only the issue of who treated them like shit, whereas homosexuals face bigoted people daily. I believe such men are not helping their situation being in only the company of men, as it would just continue to form a group of resentment towards women. When they should be looking to reconcile with women to find happiness again. Such a group would hinder these men from being happy, as they are not confronting their demons, so to speak. Where a homosexual only group actually brings a momentary sanctuary from discrimination, the single jilted men in the men club, do not face such discrimination in everyday walks of life. So while I would not disapprove of such a place for men, and can see some merits as a place to seek solace for their troubles, it would not help the overcome their issues in the long term.
It's up to those men to decide how to help themselves - if they want help that is, and if they don't want to mix with women, that's entirely up to them. It's not for others to say how they should deal with their situation.
Totally missed all the points didn't you in regards to the differences and the act there is male support groups for this? How they do not suffer the same issues of homosexuals faced in society?

I'm merely saying that there could be very valid reasons for men wanting men's clubs - despite Ben saying there isn't. I was not talking about homosexual people - you were, and I'm not obliged to pander to you.

I can't be bothered. I read what you said in reply to my point, and that's what I addressed. I'm not interested in the other stuff - it's bound to be shit anyway.

It's not a problem for me - I just ignore your most shittiest shit, and address the points which I find interesting. You're the one with a problem - insisting people reply to you all the time and address your shitty points. I've even seen you bump posts in order to harass them to answer you.
You and Ben have consistently failed to see anyone else's point of view on this thread - you're both so set in your ways and convinced that you're right and that your views are more important and valid than anyone else's.

Deflection yet again, which proves you did not read my post because I stated quite clearly about seeing your point on men only clubs. Like I said I suggest you go and read back because you just proved you did not and now invent further lies to attack me with unfounded fabrications

Go and bore someone else with your whining Didge - you're too repetitive and boring to bother with any more. I'll say what I think on this thread, and you can just suck it up.

I do not bow down to your demands, as seen I just proved you judged people claiming they do not read others points, I clearly did by understanding your point proving you never actually read my points where they agreed with you. That is called hypocrisy on your part.
