The brackets are out for the NCAA basketball playoffs. Of course Kentucky is no. one seeded in the mid-west bracket. Villanova is no. one in the east. Duke again in the south. And Wisconson March Madness--bracketology 3633442240 in the west bracket.

Arizona is no. two in the west. It had a resounding victory over Oregon Saturday night.

Yesterday, Wisconsin had a horrid victory over Michigan State, barely winning in overtime. And why the geniuses picked the Badgers no. one escapes logic. Arizona should be no. one in the west.

First game: Arizona beats Texas Southern, 93-72.

Arizona Webpage wrote:UA bolted to a 15-2 lead against Texas Southern today and pretty much coasted the rest of the game to a 93-72 win in its NCAA tournament opener today at the Moda Center.

UA built a 54-33 halftime lead and hung on in the second half, even as its defense deteriorated in a game that had been all but decided. The Wildcats allowed the Tigers to shoot 54.5 percent for the second half, after TSU missed 7 of 8 shots to start the game and was shooting just 41 percent at halftime.

Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, who didn’t start that Weber State game, was an immediate sparkplug and wound up leading UA with a career-high 23 points and 10 rebounds. It was his third double double of the season and fifth of his career.

Next up, Ohio State.

How's Gonzaga doing?

Also, what's Gonzaga? That's a type of cheese, right?

Gonzaga plays tomorrow, on TNT at 6:20 pm. They play the North Dakota State Bisons. I don't know about ND State, but Gonzaga is good this year. They gave UA one of its better games, before losing.

I don't know what a Ganzaga is...it was years before I learned that a Duke is a kind of cigarette, and not some guy with a title looking for a rich girl to marry. Oh wait...here it is:

Gonzaga webpage wrote:He is an Italian Jesuit saint of the 16th century. In 1887 when Father Joseph Cataldo, an Italian born Jesuit, founded Gonzaga College in Spokane, Washington, it seemed fitting to name the new school after his fellow Jesuit and fellow Italian, St. Aloysius Gonzaga.

So it's another one of the many Jesuit schools.

Arizona took care of a feisty little Ohio State team on Saturday. They move on to the Sweet-Sixteen.

Gonzaga plays today.

The big news yesterday was heavyweight Villanova lost to NC State in the East, 71-68, and was eliminated. Stunner!

So, we are down to the Final Four: Kentucky v. Duke (as in, 'fook duke') and Michigan State v. Wisconsin.

Looks like it's Kentucky this year. No UConn to spoil it.

Of course, I will be boycotting the NCAAs on TV, because they are held in Indianapolis, which is in Indiana, which has just passed a homophobic "Religious freedom to discriminate' law.

I generally don't like Big-10 teams, although Rutgers University is now a member and I went to Rutgers for graduate school. Wisconsin and Michigan State are a fluke...Arizona already beat Michigan State during the year.

I'm guessing it will be Duke and Kentucky for the final. And Ketuncky will win it.
