SLUGS and snails are among the easiest pests to deal with...

AND it doesn't cost a cent !

TAKE an empty 500g. plastic butter or margarine tub ~ instead of washing it out, wipe it out with a paper towel or serviette, so that the butter or marg' is smeared over the inside;

POUR stale or flat beer in there to 1/4 to 1/2 the depth, to attract mainly snails and slugs;

ADDING such sweeteners as fruit juice, a splash of energy drink, soft drink or 'sports' (electrolyte) drinks will "boost" the bait mixture ~ and it broadens the attractiveness of the traps to include cockroaches, some pest beetles, and the odd ants (not enough as to really affect the ants nests local populations, though..);

PLACE the tubs down partly sunk/buried in the ground, with the lip of the tub around 1"/25mm above ground level (helps secure the tub against blowing away or being knocked over, while still allowing easy access by those wee little pests..).

I throw the corpses into the compost bin - IF the lizards (skinks, bluetongues, water dragons..) haven't cleaned them out first - though some persons of a more squeamish persuasion could be inclined to "bin" them instead !

I usually make up between 4 and 10 at a time and scatter them around the yard ~ pushing them in under plants will both make them less conspicuous/untidy, and partly protect them from the weather.. geek

We have plenty of helpers, barter and share with family and friends. I always put any additional crop out the front and ask for donations for the local hospice I love you
