Take That consider new world tour in row over £30 million tax bill
So having ripped off the taxpayer for millions they now want to get the taxpayer to buy tickets for their show and pay the tax bill for them!!!! You gotta hand it to them for cheek.
I don't really blame them totally though. They sing songs and write music and they're quite good at it. Their accountants and advisors have a lot to answer for.

I think tax avoidance isn't wrong but clearly this was considered too aggressive and veered into evasion. That said had Labour not reverted to tax until the pips squeak we might not have had so many new avoidance schemes.
An uncomfortable fact is that when Labour reversed its policy about not raising the top rate of tax, tax avoidance went into overdrive.
This govt is doing its bit to bring in taxes and cut expenditure. You and your lefty cohorts want to tax the money makers to death and reward the benefit fraudsters like Phyllis.
Just like Hollande.
FRankly if the govt got every bit of tax that should be paid you lunatics would spend every penny and then borrow more you haven't a clue how to manage a budget.

Their reputations are badly tarnished after this one, but Gary Barlow shouldn't be made to hand back his OBE because he has done a lot of services towards music and charities.
I can't understand why tax avoidance isn't taken more seriously than it is though, the rich have plenty of money to pay their taxes, it stinks of greed and hypocrisy imo, when the poor are often portrayed as benefit fraudsters and scroungers just for claiming money that they are entitled to.

If tax avoidance is legal, why do they have to pay the tax back?

Tax avoidance should be illegal.
I guess that it isn't because it's mostly the rich elite that do it, and the rich elite run the world.

Tax avoidance is done by everybody who actually works. Clearly you don't. If you paying into a pension you avoid tax for example. Good luck with making that illegal.
Reducing tax legally isn't immoral its sensible. Some of the vehicles used are evasion posing as avoidance those are immoral and illegal. I could give you many example of reasonable avoidance somehow I think I'd be wasting my time.

Have a word with some of the back bench Tory MP'S, as they seem to be having a problem with this as well.

Prior to the financial collapse spending under Labour was no higher that the previous Tory government and Osborne and Cameron both pledged that any incoming Tory government would match and exceed Labour's spending plans.
What's really galling about stuff like this is that Barlow went out to Afghanistan to meet British troops and entertain them but he should also have announced to them that although he supports them in what they do he doesn't want to help pay for them and would rather leave it to his fans and the general public to shoulder the burden by paying their tax.

depends it is like Fred Said most people will try an minimise their tax and taxation laws are so confusing (which is the gov't fault, lets not get into the vested interests that keep it that way) that many of the tax minimisation methods are questionable legally. I say they're bloody loop hoops they pollies leave there for their rich mates. if you happen to be able to jump through the hoops you can get it too.... of course miss on out 1 of the 10 hoops and you land in a massive tax bill
