Is flight MH370 in Diego Garcia?
Malaysia Flight 370 has now been missing for 27 days, the March 8th date of disappearance drifting further and further away. This is particularly torturous and frustrating for those with family and loved ones aboard the missing Malaysia jet and has also led to wild speculation about what happened to Flight 370.
One of the passengers, Philip Wood, has been the focus of one of the more prominent alternative theories about the fate of Flight 370. While some see this as just another Flight 370 Conspiracy Theory, a text and picture reportedly from Philip Wood, have gained a lot of traction among bloggers, on Facebook, and around the web.
The story goes that Wood, a high level IBM executive who really was on Malaysia Flight 370, sent a text from his iPhone more than a week after Flight 370 disappeared. The text reportedly read:
“I have been held hostage by unknown military personnel after my flight was hijacked…I work for IBM and I have managed to hide my cellphone… I have been separated from the rest of the passengers and I am in a cell. My name is Philip Wood. I think I have been drugged as well and cannot think clearly.”
Along with the text came a photo which, even though just a blacked out image, had lots of information attached that iPhone photos automatically include when taken. GPS coordinates of the phone’s location were most interesting and placed it, and presumably Woods, at a U.S. Naval Base on an island called Diego Garcia in the middle of the Indian Ocean.

Flight MH370 Co-ordinates to a remote island taken by a confirmed passenger of Malaysian Flight 370 named Philip Wood reveal what is known as a small island called Diego Garcia. The co-ordinates came from Philip's cellphone when he uploaded a black photo with a message claiming he himself is being held prisoner by unknown military.
iPhone 5 co-ordinates: EXIF: LAT: 7deg 18′ 58.309″ South ; LONG: 72deg 25′ 35.559″
Converted co-ordinates: LAT: -7.316197 ; LONG: 72.426544

**SPREAD THESE FACTS**
UNREPORTED FACTS REGARDING Flight MH370 and the United States Military Base Diego Garcia:
* Diego Garcia is a US Military island base in the Indian Ocean
* Diego Garcia has never been mentioned to the public
* Diego Garcia has a fully operational runway and Airport
* Diego Garcia is 2,142 miles from Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia)
* The island was leased by Britain in 1966. It is due for renewal in 2014
* Diego Garcia flight co-ordinates were logged into the renown Pilot's Flight Plan Simulator
* The pilot's flight simulator has 'remote take-over' capabilities
* The data from the pilot's flight simulator has now been erased
* Flight MH370 was under 'suspicious cargo' surveillance by the GRU (Russian Main Intelligence)
* 20 of the passengers work for a company which specializes in futuristic warfare and technology
* Australian Military Radar Base: The Jindalee Operational Radar Network has the capabilities of detecting movements within a radius of 37,000km
* Malaysian authorities have pleaded with the US and Australia to release to them information from their top secret radar bases in Australia
* Island residents of the Maldives (647 miles north of Diego Garcia) reported seeing a huge low flying aircraft heading SOUTH which is the direction of Diego Garcia at 6.15am the morning after it 'disappeared' from radar
* The time of departure from Kuala Lumpur to the time of the plane's sighting is accurate
* The National Maldives Defence Force dismissed these eye witness accounts on the premise of no radar detection
* It is public knowledge that flight MH370 was not detectable, or had lost signal to radar
* Almost every member of the public had no idea there was an island in the Indian Ocean housing a US Military base and Airport before the above post was shared
* Diego Garcia has been completely dismissed from the International search, and completely dismissed from public investigative speculation

Checked into it a bit and I'm inclined to believe it's a hoax, on the basis of the fact that the first place the "text" originated appears to have been 4chan:

Wouldn't someone have gone and looked? It's not really that big an island and you would think that someone would have noticed a Boeing 777 airliner coming in and blown the whistle by now.

No, but one of the TV people thought it was being Obama wanted to interrogate them!
It was like this about the other plane it took them two years to find. If a plane goes down in a large ocean, if there is nobody about, which in the Indian Ocean, the odds against it must be huge, their chances of finding it are just about negligible. So the human mind being what it is, starts writing stories to fill in the gaps.
If they find it in Diego Garcia, brilliant, because then the relatives will get their loved ones back. Don't see it happening though.

Re: Is flight MH370 in Diego Garcia?
Diego Garcia is a part of an island group owned/controlled by the British. It has been given over (leased?) to the US, as the US controls the real NATO military presence these days.
Diego Garcia is strategically located in an otherwise sparse ocean area of the globe. From it's location, Diego Garcia controls everything in the southern hemisphere from Australia to Africa...probably a good deal of the northern hemisphere in the region as well. To put it into perspective, it's an asset at least as valuable as two supercarrier fleets...I would guess.
For the same reason, I doubt there are casual observers wandering about the island, Irn. To the contrary, it would be about as secure as Area 51 in Nevada, and could land and hide a large aircraft easily.

MH370: Chinese patrol ship detects pulse signal
Haixun 01 records signal with same frequency as that of black box ping as search continues for missing plane
Saturday 5 April 2014 14.49 BST
A Chinese search ship has detected an electronic pulse in an area of the southern Indian Ocean where it is believed the missing Malaysian Airlines plane crashed, state media has announced.
"Chinese patrol ship Haixun 01 searching for flight MH370 discovered a pulse signal with a frequency of 37.5kHz per second in south Indian Ocean waters Saturday," the official news agency, Xinhua, said. It also reported that a Chinese air force plane spotted a number of white floating objects in the search area.
Anish Patel, president of Dukane Seacom – which has said it made the beacons for the flight data and cockpit voice recorders on board MH370 – told CNN the pulse was identical to the standard beacon frequency.
The Haixun 01, one of two Chinese ships in the area, picked up the signal at about 25 degrees south latitude and 101 degrees east longitude, Xinhua reported.
"It is yet to be established whether it is related to the missing jet," it said.
China's Liberation Daily reported that three people on board the ship had heard the signals, which had not been recorded because they came suddenly.
The Australian defence minister, David Johnston, said he had not received a report on the signal and warned that it may not be from the plane.
"This is not the first time we have had something that has turned out to be very disappointing," he told ABC television.
The report is the first potentially positive sign in the race against time to find the Malaysian aircraft's black box. But there is as yet no indication of whether the pulse is in fact connected to the plane, and no wreckage has been found in the area despite a massive international hunt.
Experts have warned that the electronic beacons designed to guide searchers to the flight data and cockpit voice recorders will stop emitting signals within the next two weeks, and perhaps even within the next few days, as they run out of power.

Lets hope they can locate it again and find where it is coming from.

Re: Is flight MH370 in Diego Garcia?
One of the worst things the Wilson government ever did.
A book that really tells the whole story of it is
Island of Shame:
The Secret History of the U.S. Military Base on Diego Garcia
by David Vine
The American military base on the island of Diego Garcia is one of the most strategically important and secretive U.S. military installations outside the United States. Located near the remote center of the Indian Ocean and accessible only by military transport, the base was a little-known launch pad for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and may house a top-secret CIA prison where terror suspects are interrogated and tortured. But Diego Garcia harbors another dirty secret, one that has been kept from most of the world--until now.
Island of Shame is the first major book to reveal the shocking truth of how the United States conspired with Britain to forcibly expel Diego Garcia's indigenous people--the Chagossians--and deport them to slums in Mauritius and the Seychelles, where most live in dire poverty to this day. Drawing on interviews with Washington insiders, military strategists, and exiled islanders, as well as hundreds of declassified documents, David Vine exposes the secret history of Diego Garcia. He chronicles the Chagossians' dramatic, unfolding story as they struggle to survive in exile and fight to return to their homeland. Tracing U.S. foreign policy from the Cold War to the war on terror, Vine shows how the United States has forged a new and pervasive kind of empire that is quietly dominating the planet with hundreds of overseas military bases.
Island of Shame is an unforgettable exposé of the human costs of empire and a must-read for anyone concerned about U.S. foreign policy and its consequences. The author will donate all royalties from the sale of this book to the Chagossians.
Review:
"[A] meticulously researched, coldly furious book that details precisely how London and Washington colluded in a scheme of population removal more redolent of the eighteenth or nineteenth century than the closing decades of the twentieth. . . . [O]ne likes to think that if Barack Obama were somehow to stumble across a copy of David Vine's fine book, he would instantly realize that a great injustice has been done--one that could easily be put right."--Jonathan Freedland, New York Review of Books
"This angry and angering book is well researched, compelling, and valuable to understanding and emerging US 'empire.'"--Choice
"For Vine imperialism, military prerogative and racism have all combined to deny a people a home simply because they were in the way. His succinct style and controlled outrage make for a damning indictment."--Phil Chamberlain, Tribune
"Island of Shame is not just a gut-wrenching account of how a tropical paradise of powder-white beaches and palm fronds was turned into a massive launch pad for America's military expansionist programme. A large chunk of the book is devoted to how the Chagossians came to build their complex but happy society in the islands and the resulting tragedy of their displacement. Above all, Vine is a top flight researcher. . . . We owe Vine a great debt for shining his light on this island of horrors."--Latha Jishnu, Business Standard
"David Vine's story of the Chagossians is an exemplary piece of both socially embedded reportage and investigative journalism, despite a tendency to indulge in the self-conscious idiom of academic ethnography and reflexive criticism of US 'imperialism.' At heart, however, he speaks truth to power. Power, though, is not listening."--Colin Murphy, Irish Times
http://press.princeton.edu/titles/8885.html
Wilson let them do it, but the actions of the Americans in order to take it over was terrible. The book is a really good read for anyone who actually wants their eyes opened.

MH370: Has China Cracked 'Mission Impossible'?
The search area will be narrowed from 85,000 square miles to 10 square miles if the signal proves to be from MH370, experts say.
Experts say Chinese search crews will have overcome an "impossible situation" if they recover the black box from the missing Malaysia Airlines plane.
Chinese state media claims a signal has been discovered by the country's Haixun 01 vessel 1,000 miles northwest of Perth.
The signal is said to have a frequency of 37.5kHz per second - the same as that emitted by black-box devices.
Oceanographer Dr Simon Boxall, from Southampton University, told Sky News it would be a remarkable achievement.
"If it proves this is potentially from the pinger on the black box then we've gone from pretty much an impossible situation to locate this flight and the wreckage on the seabed to a situation where it's very feasible," he said.
"It would mean we've gone from an area of 85,000 square miles down to an area of 10 square miles.
"Because the signal is so weak on this locator, it can't be more than two or three miles away.

Nevertheless. Think about it. I submit they chose the location because your car would not make it there.

Well, if this turns out the be the black box, they won't have chosen any location.
