Hitachi is great news for Durham
Really good news that Hitachi are moving their HQ to London on the back of the contracts they won back in 2012 on the Intercity Express Programme set up by Labour in 2009 to provide rolling stock for the UK network and at the same time awarding preferred bidder status to Hitachi.
Well done to Phil Wilson MP, who fought tooth-and-nail to ensure the Coalition did not drop the plans.
And with this statement I suppose Hitachi must now have been given a nod and a wink that the UK will not be leaving the EU - referendum or not.
A total of 270 carriages will be manufactured at the new plant, enhancing the factory's ability to win lucrative rail contracts across Europe.

It is indeed and yet we see Osborne and some Tory activists trying to claim this is a success for the Tory led coalition.
It's down to the policy that was put in place in 2009. Guess the poor devils didn't know that.
