Missouri mulls law to require parents to be notified before their kids are taught evolution

Reeks of insecurity in one's beliefs to me:

In what may be the first of its kind, a proposed bill in Missouri would require that parents be notified when evolution is being taught to their children at school. They could then pull them from the class. Critics say the bill would "eviscerate" the teaching of biology.

The bill is being sponsored by State Rep. Rick Brattin (R), and it had its first public hearing on February 13th, 2014. Though many anti-evolution proposals are currently being considered across the United States, this one appears to be the only bill — and perhaps the first — that actually mandates parental notification when evolution is being taught to their children.

EVEN with private schooling and home schooling, they are still required to meet their states minimum curriculum standards...

Otherwise, they face losing their registration as recognised educators..

With this legislation, the state is attempting to thwart that universal retirement !

Hmm, your point is interesting. You think peoples lack of presenting this information is the problem. You may have a point- I would argue however that such teachings are isolated though I agree very wrong and absolutely agree should be stopped- but then I (and others, not just me) have made this argument countless times when slamming all faith schools in general; very much including (in fact especially including) Islamic schools.

The problem with creationism in the States however is no small problem- a massive minority of Americans (potentially nearly half, since that is the number who do not believe in evolution) oppose the teaching of evolution in schools; which has the effect of making biology teaching farcical. That an American posters posts a story relevant to this subject should be no surprise- just because they didn't immediately post a story of equal condemnation of something a Muslim schools does isn't reason to start crying the usual 'woe the Christians' stuff.

And you want outrage- what on earth do you so insist on outrage for? Just because you are angry all the time doesn't mean everyone else has to be- some of us are, however annoyingly, just not angry people

Hmm, your point is interesting. You think peoples lack of presenting this information is the problem. You may have a point- I would argue however that such teachings are isolated though I agree very wrong and absolutely agree should be stopped- but then I (and others, not just me) have made this argument countless times when slamming all faith schools in general; very much including (in fact especially including) Islamic schools.

The problem with creationism in the States however is no small problem- a massive minority of Americans (potentially nearly half, since that is the number who do not believe in evolution) oppose the teaching of evolution in schools; which has the effect of making biology teaching farcical. That an American posters posts a story relevant to this subject should be no surprise- just because they didn't immediately post a story of equal condemnation of something a Muslim schools does isn't reason to start crying the usual 'woe the Christians' stuff.

And you want outrage- what on earth do you so insist on outrage for? Just because you are angry all the time doesn't mean everyone else has to be- some of us are, however annoyingly, just not angry people
