Foreign thugs who commit violent crimes against women and children to be kicked out of Australia or refused entry under new crackdown

Foreigners who commit violent crimes against women or children will be kicked out of Australia or barred from entering the country as part of a tough government directive. Officials will now be able to cancel the visas of those who have been found guilty of domestic violence after the order by Immigration Minister David Coleman came into force on Thursday.

Previously, foreign visa-holders could only have their visas revoked if they had been in jail for at least 12 months or failed a character test.

The new policy within the Department for Immigration come after an Administrative Appeals Tribunal overturned denying a Danish man a visa to enter the country.

His suspended sentence in Denmark of 30 days in jail did not warrant being denied entry to Australia under previous legislation.

But the tribunal would now longer be able to overturn such cases, The Herald Sun reported, despite the convicted person not having serving time in jail.

Election coming up so the scare campaigns begin, it fucking shit that they appeal to cowardly right wing voters by removing human rights and due process.

the current RW gov't is on the way out unless there is something drastic and 'the Scary Foreigners that will eat your babies if you don't vote for the Liberal Party(RW)'  campaign worked for them in the past.... although thankfully after a couple of these stunts they have seen no bump in the polls, so it seems Aussies might not be falling for it.

i do think seeing the USA and UK's current problems after succumbing to similar narratives has made 'the middle' thinking twice about falling for such 'emotive' electoral string pulling.

Well Lord Foul, the reason why they can get away with such a policy  is because ...
in British Courts it's apparently standard to give child abusers and wife bashers a slap on the wrist and a lollipop rather than a actual sentence so relying on 'others' to have handed down 12+ months terms for serious offenses (which would automatically disqualify them) isn't enough.

this will end up making it impossible for ones that did just do something that deserved a slap on the wrist, and the real nasty piece of this legislation is the removal of the appeals process. the immigration minister should not have so much power without oversight, no politician or bureaucrat should! that's the whole point of the 'separation of powers' design of our systems.

Good. I can't understand why they would let violent people in anyway. However, violence towards men should also count.
