Outrage as non-Native youth wearing #MAGA hats taunt and disrespect Native elder

First topic message reminder :

Nathan Phillips, Omaha, is a Vietnam Veteran who hosts a sacred pipe ceremony at Arlington, was taunted in D.C.

Native Twitter has gone ablaze as a Native American elder singing the AIM Song in Washington DC during the Indigenous Peoples March was ridiculed, taunted and mocked by a group of non-Native youth.

The video, which was posted by YouTube account holder KC NOLAND, was also screen captured and shared on other social media accounts with views shortly gaining tens of thousands of views.

The elder is Nathan Phillips, an Omaha elder who is also a Vietnam Veteran and former director of the Native Youth Alliance. He is also a keeper of a sacred pipe and holds an annual ceremony honoring Native American veterans in the Arlington National Cemetery.

Nathan in the last viodeo calls everyone relatives, showing again he is a man of peace

Even those posters saw what was wrong when they first saw, but as seen now defend them based off what of Black supremacists did.

If teachers had of been there, they would have moved their kids away from this. Instead it cleary looks to me, the tension and confrontation is building up. In fact a teacher did later come and did what should have happened before, moved them on, that is in the third video

Actually the Native Americans were there first as a people in the US and on this day with the march as it was part of their march. The first videos of this whole event shows the native indians being abused by the Black supremacists calling them savages and then after this some of these kids start showing up. I suggest you watch the 2 hour video of this which shows the natives were here already and the kids later turned up

They reacted as no kids of a school should act. They acted poorly in retaliation, which no school would either encourage and would always condemn. They would tell them to move away and not get involved and those kids got involved

Who says any laws were broken, when this is about kids showing respect and not racially mocking native indians

Now in no way were the native Amercians agressive to the 100 17 year olds, they though surrounded him and mocked him racially. Some were good though that is for sure. but that does not excuse the ones that acted poor.

If teachers had of been there, they would have moved their kids away from this. Instead it cleary looks to me, the tension and confrontation is building up. In fact a teacher did later come and did what should have happened before, moved them on, that is in the third video

Don't go overboard, geli. That was a mocking smile, meant to taunt.

The plain fact is that any expression is permissible in a demonstration, as long as it is non-violent. (That's why Charlottesville was unacceptable.) But whether it's sneers or drums, on-lookers will judge you and assign a meaning to your antics.

Like George Zimmerman, Mr. Sandmann will probably have a hard time getting a job or other placement as a result of his public personality assignment, what with that mocking smile. I'll bet he grows a beard and ditches that hat when he gets to college.
