You seriously have no idea on this, but its good, you are actually learning from me and Victor
They don't generally die of colds, they generally die of secondary infections or sepsis.
You have no idea and just looked up on google
Its embarressing
If you did know, you would explain the differences on ages
You simple read verbatim online

That is the same with many viral infections, especially towards people that have weakned immune systems. Like peopel that are under going chemo.
Yes I know. Unfortunately, there is an attitude amongst many people that a cold shouldn't prevent them going to work.

If that is what you believe Rags, then so be it.
I will however allow my posts to explain otheriwse
I simple am not going to get drawm into one of your dumb and uneducated arguments
However, you could prove me wrong and show to me you do have an understanding.
So lets help you, what is pneumonia in asthmatics?
Expplain the same with colds and flu?

Pneumonia is inflammation in the lungs, and has a variety of causes. Colds and flu are caused by a variety of viruses. The parainfluenza virus causes cold-like symptoms and can also cause lower respiratory infection.

So it took you 7 minutes to look that up
Now explain the differences between this with flu and colds

I didn't look it up, it's common knowledge - to most people anyway, but not you. I just explained - they are both caused by viruses, but not the same virus. Even colds are caused by different viruses. Colds are an upper respiratory infection.

It took you nearly 10 minutes to answer my point on the differences, for you to reply with one sentence
That proves to me, you had to look this up and you did so verbatim, from the definition
Hence I know you have not got a clue

I got a bit of a chesty cough/cold when Ben was over in April. Before then I hadnt had a cold for about twenty years, I just don’t get them even when everyone around me has one.
Never had a flu jab, never will.

I wasn't planning on getting a flu jab, but I can't risk getting flu, even though I'm not sure I've ever had it before. I'm a bit apprehensive because so many people say they feel ill afterwards.

Didge, yo have a nasty habit of calling me a liar, which to be honest I very much resent and wish you would cease and desist, I am not a liar, I don't see the need to be, anything I put on here is because I have experienced it or because I firmly believe it is so or it is my considered opinion. I am always open to be corrected given the evidence for the last two.

The trouble is that when people have a cold-like or flu-like illness they don't generally know what organism has caused it. They don't know if it's rhinovirus, influenza virus, parainfluenza virus, or whatever.
If they have pneumonia, they also don't know - it could be streptococcus or staphylocuccus, for example, or it could be a virus.
The only way to know is if a test is done to determine exactly which virus or bacteria is the cause.
A heavy cold can feel like flu to some people, particularly if their immune system responds robustly to a cold virus.

Some people say they have the flu when they just have a cold.
The flu is debilitating and usually has one bedbound for a couple of weeks. A cold is just a cold. Makes you feel crappy but no big deal.
I don’t know why I never get colds. Or sickness bugs. I’ve literally had everyone in my house vomiting and it just bypasses me. Mind you, I’m a clumsy fucker and I’m constantly banging my hand, or leg, or bumping into something.

A cold can be debilitating for some people though - not for weeks but for a few days anyway. They tend to drag on these days as well - dunno why.

Bullshit
Do you know why?
It isn't bullshit. The flu virus mutates quickly. A vacine that may work on one strain wont necessarily work on another strain, which is why the flu jab doesnt always prevent one catching flu, and which is why people at risk are advised to have a flu jab every year.

That is because ,many mothers are able to build up immunities, from when they get this from their children
So in reality, and is why mothers tend to cope better than whimpy men when they contract such viruses.

No, I have a good habit of questioning people, when they make poor claims. Hence that in no way means I am calling you a liar. It means I am questioning the validity of your claim, being as you may think this is the case, but do not actually know if that is the case. You have no way to confirm your conclusion. Hence people questioning something you cannot confirm, is in no way casting you as a liar. So stop being silly Vintage. To be honest I was not aware of the baterial pnuemonia jab, but that is irrelevant to my point
As seen in your own link, there is 90 strains and only protects againt 23 of them. So is not very protective at all at 50%, worse case scenario, considering it does not protect against 67 of them, like I stated already. What I questioned is your diagnoses.
If you take offense to that, then seriously, you need to toughen up
So you need to stop and poorly doing so, playing the victim card, Vintage, when questioned on your claims
That is being like a pathetic lefty snowflake. Of which you are northing like, so stop acting like one
Thank you
For a start, you associated your illness, as being flu, which may not be the case, basd on zero evidence, but a perception you formed yourself and not by any medical personel or tests
That is not calling you a liar, but being critical of your reasoning on how you come to such a conclusion
It means, you could easily be mistaken and to be honest, I think you are
So that is not me calling you a liar, but questioning, how on earth you come to a conclusion, without any tests , qualifications, to such a poor conclusion? Even a gp will second guess without tests. What you have done is what many people do poorly all the time. Self diagnosed themselves, when in general they have not got the first clue what is wrong and have come to this poor conclusion by what they have read online. One thing medical professionals will do is advised people to not self diagnosed. It does not mean they are always right, but they will be 99.9 times more right on what is wrong with you, than you your yourself.

I hate colds as well. Just because they're common doesn't mean they're mild. Some people have worse symptom than others - probably because of the way their immune system reacts to the infection.

I think planes are a breeding ground for germs...you probably all caught the virus either going (or preferably) returning.

I think your link backs my argument up more than it does yours......
"In addition to breathing in infectious droplets, passengers could be getting sick from touching seat backs, tray tables or faucets in the bathroom. Experts agree that the dirtiest part of an airliner is the tray table, which is why many passengers bring disinfecting tissues and wipe them off. Lavatories are next. Gerba’s studies showed fecal matter on the door handles."

ha ha ha, talk about picking and choosing what you want to read
What did the article actually say?
(Inside Science) -- It’s flu season and the passenger four rows behind you is coughing. How likely is that you or other people on the plane will catch the flu?
The answer is: not very.
You said planes are breeding grounds for germs. They are no more or less breeding grounds for germs, than any place that people frequent
That claim was utter crap and you know it
This is a clear example of yet again, you not admitting when you are in the wrong
At least I am humble enough to do so, what is apparant, is you clearly have zero humility

You could have just apologised for being nasty to Vintage instead of giving her another lecture.
You could of course keep your big nose out of this, when there is nothing to apologise over, but then, you clearly get off on shit stirring rags
You are one person I simple laugh at all the time
I'll remind you to keep your big nose out next time you reply to me when I wasn't talking to you.

No, it shows that you have a jab for whatever strain is prevalent that year. Syl is right.
Prove that Syl is wrong.

So if I have had many jabs and not had flu, what does that tell you?
It tells me that you had a different jab every year pertaining to the strain of flu which was prevalent at the time, or that you simply didn't encounter a flu virus. Did you not understand what I said the first time?
