Ellen Page comes out as gay
First topic message reminder :
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/ellen-page-comes-as-gay-680563
Apparently some here believe this is because of her "extreme ugliness" - https://newsfix.niceboard.com/t2492-gay-is-genetic#37224 - let's have a closer look at that:
So ugly ...
The star of the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past made the announcement in a moving and deeply personal speech delivered at Time to THRIVE, a conference to promote the welfare of LGBT youth held at Bally's Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.
"I’m here today because I am gay," Page, 26, told the audience "And because maybe I can make a difference. To help others have an easier and more hopeful time. Regardless, for me, I feel a personal obligation and a social responsibility."
"I am tired of hiding and I am tired of lying by omission," Page proudly and defiantly declared. "I suffered for years because I was scared to be out. My spirit suffered, my mental health suffered and my relationships suffered. And I’m standing here today, with all of you, on the other side of all that pain."

3. The choice to 'not be gay' does not exist for somone who is gay (you said earlier 'if' such a choice existed, it doesn't).
4. You agree people are born gay and that there exists no way to change that.
All your own points
Therefore you concede people are born gay and that there is no known way of changing that.
i have put two different points in, if you claim you were made gay i said no you are not, you chose to be gay, the fact the huge majority are made heterosexual shows gay as abnormal...
it can only leave one of two choices..
you chose to be gay in which case stop whinging about how dificult being gay is..
or gay is a genetic fault in which case it could be mended one day..
then the fact you said you would not take the cure shows you have chosen to be gay.. :D

Yes at this point in his life and why wouldn't he? He's healthy, happy, has a BF he loves and his whole life ahead of him. Why would he want to give all of that up just to conform with what your idea of normal might be?!

normal is what it is, individuality still exists within normal, it is hard to argue with the statistics on gays compared to normal. :D

So we're talking numbers here? Numbers determine what is normal and what is not; so big numbers are "more normal" and small numbers are "less normal." OK:
* It's not normal to be white; only one in four people in the world have white skin.
* It's not normal to have blue eyes; only eight percent of the global population have blue eyes.
* Only one to two percent of the world population has red hair.
* 80 percent of the world lives in substandard housing; it's abnormal to have a structurally sound, modern house.
* Having internet access is quite abnormal, as only eight percent of the world is online.
* Just one in three would be a Christian; being a Christian is relatively abnormal.
I hope you see how pointless it is to try to define "normal" by percentages. This whole debate should be on the effect upon society, whether positive or negative, rather than upon deciding that majorities constitute normalcy and that minorities are abnormal.

I just showed that if you go by numbers, a white guy with a decent home, blue eyes and an internet connection -- which is a good general description of yours truly, Ben_Reilly -- would be quite abnormal. So no, you can't use numbers to demonstrate what's "normal" in any genuine sense, because where I live I'm totally "normal."
You need to come up with a better critique of homosexual behavior than saying that "it's not normal," because it's not "normal," going by the numbers, to be a lot of things that we consider perfectly "normal."

'you're', 'too'.
I don't care much for a stupid bigot calling me abnormal; from someone of intelligence it might have an effect but not you.
However if you are going to call me abnormal then be aware it just looks silly if your spelling is like that of a child- I don't care for the whole 'grammar police' routine normally but in this case it seemed apt

Maybe if you two teamed up you could learn how to read? I know it seems challenging, but just take baby steps!

No; allow me to point out the obvious here. An animal doesn't 'choose' since its brain is nowhere near as advanced as that of a human. We are all animals HF whether you like it or not. And no animal chooses its sexuality.
Nems introduced a great killer to your argument- and again you failed to explain how it doesn't destroy your argument. Today has not been good for the 'choice' view at all has it

No, first you said that there are all kinds of misfits and abnormalities in "God's" creation; then you completely contradicted yourself by saying that "God" gave penguins the free will to choose to be gay. You're really all over the place, but I would expect nothing less from someone who hasn't figured out yet that his parents lied to him ...

Shady you will never ever understand how for young gay people seeing someone famous 'come out' emboldens them to be themselves to those they love in a society which at times remains stubbornly reluctant to fully embrace gay people- especially in certain parts of America but also Europe too including the UK.

Oh I understand Eilzel but they don't all need role models to embolden themselves. Many people uncluding homosexuals have enough metal to live their lives without following role models. It's called self motivation Eilzel. It's called self discipline Eilzel. It's called self belief Eilzel.
