Ellen Page comes out as gay

The star of the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past made the announcement in a moving and deeply personal speech delivered at Time to THRIVE, a conference to promote the welfare of LGBT youth held at Bally's Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

"I’m here today because I am gay," Page, 26, told the audience "And because maybe I can make a difference. To help others have an easier and more hopeful time. Regardless, for me, I feel a personal obligation and a social responsibility."

"I am tired of hiding and I am tired of lying by omission," Page proudly and defiantly declared. "I suffered for years because I was scared to be out. My spirit suffered, my mental health suffered and my relationships suffered. And I’m standing here today, with all of you, on the other side of all that pain."

you don't need to be sarcastic with i was only asking where it was he said it as i couldn't find it on this thread then checked the thread out posted , but i think HF knows not all gay people are ugly and maybe you are just jumping to that conlusion from one comment.

Anyway i don't necessarily think all those posted on here are gorgeous but they are not ugly for sure

Well those are two very small things- you are going to have to do better- though to address those two- that the first allowed a woman to see his dick to begin with implies he is straight; for the second, if you allow a man to fiddle with you to begin with then you are probably gay.

In any case neither of those happened to me.

And both would also imply it wasn't a choice; but something happening that 'changed' that person- so still not a choice- try  again.

not necessarily could have been a nurse, baby sitter... :D 

it would make you chose, events make your decision to become gay, not genetics, again if it was genetic and it could be made normal again would you have it altered. :D

We aren't talking about genetic. I am trying to understand how you can believe being gay is a choice- which just doesn't even make sense.

Even still; you are saying that someone can decide what 'turns them on' to put it bluntly- now if you can 'choose' who turns you on then that means YOU could 'decide' to be turned on by some fit guy at the poolside (for instance)- and that I could, if you are to be believed, 'choose' to be turned on by pictures in Zoo magazine- do you think this is actually a realistic understanding of sexuality?

My life is great; but it still doesn't mean someone would choose, at a very young age, you be gay- what would be the point?

it isn't who you are at all it is just what you chose to be, the alternative is it is genetic mis wiring as the normal is so obviously for men to fancy women, you was offered the chance if it existed to be made normal and you said no you wouldn't, so clearly given the choice you would remain gay... :D

Perfect, absolutely perfect. YES, IF that was a choice I would choose to remain gay. This is a beautiful concession though on your part though HF since there is a huge difference in choosing to BECOME gay to begin with; OR choosing to REMAIN gay if you are gay ALREADY.

The only 'choice' is as you said an 'imaginary one' where I could choose to stop being the way I was born. So I haven't really made a choice at all because there was none to be made. A pretty  pathetic concession on your part but it is a virtue to admit you are wrong
