Ellen Page comes out as gay
The star of the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past made the announcement in a moving and deeply personal speech delivered at Time to THRIVE, a conference to promote the welfare of LGBT youth held at Bally's Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.
"I’m here today because I am gay," Page, 26, told the audience "And because maybe I can make a difference. To help others have an easier and more hopeful time. Regardless, for me, I feel a personal obligation and a social responsibility."
"I am tired of hiding and I am tired of lying by omission," Page proudly and defiantly declared. "I suffered for years because I was scared to be out. My spirit suffered, my mental health suffered and my relationships suffered. And I’m standing here today, with all of you, on the other side of all that pain."

Apparently some here believe this is because of her "extreme ugliness" - https://newsfix.niceboard.com/t2492-gay-is-genetic#37224 - let's have a closer look at that:
So ugly ...
Re: Ellen Page comes out as gay
She's very pretty (less so in the top pic I might add).
Good for her. It helps when young film stars come out, there are plenty of young gay girls who will feel inspired by her.

Some one should let HF and Andy know they were right; clearly she is so ugly she would never attract your average red blooded male- bloody morons.
Gorgeous girl; and good on her coming out, as Eds says this will give confidence to other young gay girls (and boys)

All gorgeous people.
Maine, you may have missed the part (no surprise) where HF stated a reason men or women might become gay is due to being ugly and so unable to attract the opposite sex (never mind the issue there of gay people apparently would be attracted to ugly people wtf???)- these pictures are simply more evidence of Heavenly Father talking out of his heavenly arse :D

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, of course.
Not one of these people could be considered ugly though.
I as the film Juno, not usually my type of film but I enjoyed it.
Lol I also thought at first, he was talking about the fine singer that is Elaine Page HAHAHAHAHA

you don't need to be sarcastic with i was only asking where it was he said it as i couldn't find it on this thread then checked the thread out posted , but i think HF knows not all gay people are ugly and maybe you are just jumping to that conlusion from one comment.
Anyway i don't necessarily think all those posted on here are gorgeous but they are not ugly for sure

I guess it depends if you believe in god or not really.
He created everything, we are all made in his image etc
If you think gay is wrong then you think God is wrong
You cant just pick the bits you like you either accept his will or you dont.

Well those are two very small things- you are going to have to do better- though to address those two- that the first allowed a woman to see his dick to begin with implies he is straight; for the second, if you allow a man to fiddle with you to begin with then you are probably gay.
In any case neither of those happened to me.
And both would also imply it wasn't a choice; but something happening that 'changed' that person- so still not a choice- try again.

not necessarily could have been a nurse, baby sitter... :D
it would make you chose, events make your decision to become gay, not genetics, again if it was genetic and it could be made normal again would you have it altered. :D

We aren't talking about genetic. I am trying to understand how you can believe being gay is a choice- which just doesn't even make sense.
Even still; you are saying that someone can decide what 'turns them on' to put it bluntly- now if you can 'choose' who turns you on then that means YOU could 'decide' to be turned on by some fit guy at the poolside (for instance)- and that I could, if you are to be believed, 'choose' to be turned on by pictures in Zoo magazine- do you think this is actually a realistic understanding of sexuality?

My life is great; but it still doesn't mean someone would choose, at a very young age, you be gay- what would be the point?
I know you don't fancy men; and I presume by that you mean your answer is no. Good, that confirms my argument here; you can't choose your sexuality, and neither did I. Thanks, nice chat

That is twisted logic. I was always gay; obviously; as you were always straight as you admitted- so we now both agree that one is born with their sexuality- ie: it isn't a choice.
I wouldn't change that because it is who I am. If it was even possible to make a choice then the choice would be to change- but the fact is you are born homosexual or you are not, just like your answer suggests.

it isn't who you are at all it is just what you chose to be, the alternative is it is genetic mis wiring as the normal is so obviously for men to fancy women, you was offered the chance if it existed to be made normal and you said no you wouldn't, so clearly given the choice you would remain gay... :D

'choice you would remain gay'
Perfect, absolutely perfect. YES, IF that was a choice I would choose to remain gay. This is a beautiful concession though on your part though HF since there is a huge difference in choosing to BECOME gay to begin with; OR choosing to REMAIN gay if you are gay ALREADY.
What you are saying is the latter. Thank you.

I don't bitch about how tough my life is- point me to where I did (if you aren't just Bullshitting you will not have a problem with that).
The only 'choice' is as you said an 'imaginary one' where I could choose to stop being the way I was born. So I haven't really made a choice at all because there was none to be made. A pretty pathetic concession on your part but it is a virtue to admit you are wrong

you said who would chose to be gay, as in it's such a tough life who would make that choice, yet given the choice to be made normal again you wouldn't take it, so you would chose to be gay, not sure which way you want it, which may explain why you are gay..

Re: Ellen Page comes out as gay
You are now saying you don't understand your own suggestion, I'll simplify:
1. HF says, 'you wouldn't choose to not be gay'
2. (By implication) you, HF, agree that I was already born gay and the choice is to change.
3. The choice to 'not be gay' does not exist for somone who is gay (you said earlier 'if' such a choice existed, it doesn't).
4. You agree people are born gay and that there exists no way to change that.
All your own points
Therefore you concede people are born gay and that there is no known way of changing that.
