When  you  know  as Prime Minister your days are numbered when  you  realise  your Lords, Masters and Paymasters Murdoch and Dacre have instructed their front page editors to fill the headlines with abuse, vitriol and insults aimed directly at you instead of Jeremy Corbyn.

now in 2005 Michael howard gained 30 seats and resigned.
corbyn gains 30 seats and declares he won more than the tories.

the only reason that the left are declaring a great victory is that the bar was set so incredibly low for corbyn in the first place.

He is gordon brown bad, not ed miliband bad.

Vote % was close though Devil.
Amd he got over 12 million votes.
The biggest increase in Labour's share since Attlee.
Stopped the Tories gaining a majority.
Some polls now put him ahead of May and the Tories.
The Tories were still below 200 seats, Labour are at 262.

The Tories won after 2005 and I'd say Labour are now far better positioned.

but the twelfth worst result in total vote share of electorate for labour leaders since attlee.
YEs labour got out every man and his dog to vote for them and still came way behind the tories who increased their vote by a million or more as well. It was a very large turnout this time.

the greens had their vote plunge by over 600000 and lost lots of deposits. the lib dems a pro eu party did not have the resurgence they expected probably because so many of them voted for the pro brexit labour party, chortle, and the YOOF turned out in huge numbers and voted for them. Just where are all the votes going to come from to get those extra 64 seats to win, or more for a working majority. If the yoof really want to stay in the EU then they would have been better off voting for the Lib Dems. The SNP were decimated not through some labour surge, labour got around 9000 votes more up in scotland, but by an SNP crash they were a couple of hundred votes from losing their overall majority in scotland. one seat has a majority of 2, and only got that after 3 recounts where all of them showed a majority for the other party until the last recount where the SNP apparently found a couple of extra votes stuffed down the back of the sofa. The tory vote in scotland did surge somewhat though up by a few hundred thousand votes.

micheal howard increased the tory seats by 30ish in 2005 and resigned, corbyn did the same and didn't.

Corbyn shouldn't resign for the exact reasons I mentioned. As I said, he is now up in the polls. May's claims of stability are in tatters as she delays a Queen's speech due to ongoing talks with the DUP. There are talks of leadership challenges. The Scots Tories loyalty is questionable. And Corbyn is up in the polls. You've got your head in the sand if you think now is a time for Corbyn to go.

as we have seen tactical voting ensures a tory led government 2 out of 3 times.

he got this huge support and still failed to win. where is the extra support going to come from. He does not represent traditional labour voters who rejected his policies in 1979
