Oh, Indonesia. Can you please stop behaving like you're a separate, independent country with your own policies and agendas when you clearly exist only in order to prevent people getting into Australian waters? And more specifically, can you stop making statements that appear to directly contradict immigration minister Scott Morrison? Why, people might start to doubt that he's an effective and strong leader and start thinking he's kind of a lying bully who's woefully out of his depth.

See, yesterday Indonesia's top military commander - Military Commander General Moeldoko - told the press that relations between his country and ours were tickity-boo now that an agreement had been reached to stop returning boats into Indonesian waters.

“The Australian military commander has promised not to do it again,” General Moeldoko said of the naval towbacks, and when questioned about the statement, a spokesperson for the general clarified “When the commanders talked to each other, the Australian military commander [presumably chief of defence David Hurley] said that if another asylum seeker boat arrived in Australia, then Australia would deal with the problem internally."

Well, well, well.

Morrison, meanwhile, either didn't know about this deal or is fibbing when he insisted that "There is no change to policy in relation to Operation Sovereign Borders.” And since he's the Boss of the Sea, he should know.
