10,000 years ago, H. sapiens sapiens immigrates into what is to much later become the British Isles,
out of Africa by the long way round, via eastern Europe and the Caucasus region...

Around 7,000 years ago, they climb down out of their trees and caves and begin farming the land..

2,000 years ago your Roman cousins came for a visit, and liked the scenery and hospitality so much,
they decided to stay for a while ~ and it's never been the same ever since !

yeah the whole no wars thing...
plus it is paradise here because you don't actually need to do anything the majority of the country you can walk around naked, You really need to go out of you way to get any sort of frost-bite, and food can be acquired with a pointy stick what more could you ask for?

Veya my friend, yoiu seem to get pleasure out of knocking England, but perhaps you should be reminded that Australia belongs to the Aborigines, who, sadly, were displaced by settlers. The same has happened in many countries, such as S. Africa, America. if it shows anything it's that we humans have initiative and the will to get out there and enhance our species. We are no different to animals, who move along into new territory. Our numbers are growing at an alarming rate and expansion will increase.

Hi Tommy. Thanks for the link, a fascinating event and discovery. As I said above we're an adventurous species, spreading out everywhere, and that's what happened thousands, nay, millions of years ago. From humble animal-like beings in one continent, now millions of us all over the world. I wonder, will we ever get to the stars and populate other planets? I believe so if we don't annihilate ourselves first.

AND YOU also conveniently choose to ignore here, Star' me old cobber, that those first European settlers down here were mostly English, Scottish and Welsh ~ under the auspices of the British Admiralty at that stage ~ along with a few Irish Political prisoners, and the 101 other odd nationalities rounded up in various crimes and conflicts...

NEVER forget either that it was the policies of the British government, and the actions of the Scottish investment houses that dealt with the foreign holdings of your Landed Gentry, that was actually responsible for the 'displacement' of native populations in Oz, NZ, SA, Rhodesia, India, Singapore, Malaysia, the USA, Canada..

THERE were no actual "Australians" as such born here before the Federation of the colonies on the 1st January, 1901 ~ before that our ancestors were citizens of each colony State [e.g. New South Welshman, Victorian, Queenslander..], and hence the British Empire..

ONE of my great-grandfathers was Aboriginal, while my British and Irish ancestors were usually a fair mix of  free settlers and 'ticket of leave' former convicts, most of the time both civilised and convivial in various mixes.

Hi Wolfy. I know, understand and appreciate what you said above. I had 2 ancestral brothers who were sent to Australia as convicts, and there was also a girl. Their descendants live in Sydney and Melbourne, whom I've been in touch with. My brother also lives in Sydney, been there for years.

The point I was making was the expansion and migrations of most races across the world, as we see these days in England. Being realistic and open-minded we can't blame them really for wanting to better their lives..
