Veya my friend, if you knew your English history you would learn that our country was populated about 10,000 years ago. I can vouch for that by my DNA results. Lol, no wonder I need a shave!

2,000 years ago your Roman cousins came for a visit, and liked the scenery and hospitality so much,

P.S. The first wave of Aboriginal early settlers arrived on the Australian continent some 45 -> 50,000 years ago..
When the Brit's early ancestors were still swinging by their tails in central Africa !
it seems cruel to point out however that they THEN proceeded to do.....well........nothing much at all......... for 45-50,000 years......

by pre-celts(name unknown) than Celts the Irish and welsh are the last of the original Brits.
than Angles and Saxons arrived... what 1500 years ago. then 1066 became Norman Property

And as wolf said 10,000 years hardly anything,
there are Religious Centres here that have been in use for 30,000 years

plus it is paradise here because you don't actually need to do anything the majority of the country you can walk around naked, You really need to go out of you way to get any sort of frost-bite, and food can be acquired with a pointy stick what more could you ask for?

Re: The treacherous left
Veya my friend, yoiu seem to get pleasure out of knocking England, but perhaps you should be reminded that Australia belongs to the Aborigines, who, sadly, were displaced by settlers. The same has happened in many countries, such as S. Africa, America. if it shows anything it's that we humans have initiative and the will to get out there and enhance our species. We are no different to animals, who move along into new territory. Our numbers are growing at an alarming rate and expansion will increase.

Re: The treacherous left
Hi Tommy. Thanks for the link, a fascinating event and discovery. As I said above we're an adventurous species, spreading out everywhere, and that's what happened thousands, nay, millions of years ago. From humble animal-like beings in one continent, now millions of us all over the world. I wonder, will we ever get to the stars and populate other planets? I believe so if we don't annihilate ourselves first.

Re: The treacherous left
Hello irn, thanks for the warm words.
The link was a response to flea keepers narrow minded view on human history.
As is this one...
http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2005/07/0719_050719_britishgene.html
In fact, early Britons moved south as the climate deteriorated and then moved back north as things improved.

Re: The treacherous left
Hi Wolfy. I know, understand and appreciate what you said above. I had 2 ancestral brothers who were sent to Australia as convicts, and there was also a girl. Their descendants live in Sydney and Melbourne, whom I've been in touch with. My brother also lives in Sydney, been there for years.
The point I was making was the expansion and migrations of most races across the world, as we see these days in England. Being realistic and open-minded we can't blame them really for wanting to better their lives..
