Best Of British: Irrefutable Reasons To Be Proud Of UK Aid

When Britain is congratulated for doing something extraordinary you want to hear what it is we've done. And when it comes from one of the world's most successful business leaders, Bill Gates, you might listen a little more closely to the detail. This is exactly what happened last night at a special lecture in the House of Lords where Mr Gates robustly applauded the UK's historic contributions to global health through its strong commitment to overseas aid. This can be seen with the UK's current response to the Ebola crisis. But he particularly highlighted the UK's remarkable contribution to the huge progress made in tackling malaria - the oldest and deadliest disease - which in the past 15 years has seen child deaths cut in half and over three million young lives saved.

The event, The Case for Aid: A Conversation with Bill Gates which I was delighted Malaria No More UK helped support, served to remind us of the many reasons to be proud of the Best of British, and rightly so when you consider;

That is the point of Aide and India is at a point where legit aide is unlikely.

Yes they are now developed and IN CASE you are wondering You didn't tell them you weren't going to give it they said they don't need it any more and give it to someone else (they said the same to Australia and USA) so you really cant complain they took charity when they needed it and now they don't they have stopped.

Always the worst examples of how aid is misused are brought up to argue for the aid budget to be scrapped or reduced when on the whole the most aid money is put to good use. There are claims that British aid money paid for a new aircraft as there are claims that it was American money, German money, EU money. The Gulfstream aircraft was to replace an older aircraft which was returned to Gulfstream and resold to Brazil. It was on a lease agreement and so is the new aircraft. Doesn’t make it right and the guy is a chancer and his country could well do without him and his corrupt establishment but let’s get the facts right and let’s try and educate his people so that they can see through people like him and help make their country a better place to live in .
Sorry, but this I’m alright Jack’ attitude and all those starving to death in other countries can go to hell and die just isn’t British at all. And neither is the pulling up the drawbridge in believing we can get along just fine by alienating ourselves from the world at large. We can’t so just join the modern world and sign up to trying to make this planet a better place for everyone who inhabits it.
