Baby manslaughter mother given suspended jail term

A mother has been given a suspended jail sentence after pleading guilty to killing her four-month-old baby.
The 19-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, also admitted two counts of child cruelty in relation to two other children.
At Snaresbrook Crown Court she was sentenced to 18 months suspended for two years for manslaughter.
On the cruelty charges she was given nine months for each count, suspended for two years.

Latvia knife attack mother wins extradition fight

A woman who is wanted in Latvia to serve a jail sentence for knife attacks on two men has won her High Court battle to stay in the UK.
Natalija Krusinina, 54, is facing a six-year prison sentence for cutting and stabbing the men while under the influence of alcohol.
However a judge ruled she should not be extradited due to the "devastating" impact it could have on her daughter.
