Earliest people[edit]
In 2007 Bryan Sykes produced an analysis of 6000 samples from the OGAP project in his book Blood of the Isles.[3] Later, Stephen Oppenheimer in his 2006 book The Origins of the British used the data from Weale et al. (2002), Capelli et al. (2003) and Rosser et al. (2000) for Europe. In opposition to Mesolithic origin theories, Sykes and Oppenheimer argued for significant immigration from the Iberian peninsula into Britain and Ireland. Much of this argument depended on Y DNA evidence, by 2010 several major Y DNA studies presented more complete data, showing that nearly all of the Y DNA subclades in Britain arrived very recently through Celtic and Germanic migrations from central and northern Europe during the Bronze Age, with most of the Mesolithic ancestry (I-M253) arriving from Scandinavia.[4][5][6]
In 2012, from a highly enlarged whole-genome mitochondrial database published, the authors concluded that the most archaic mtDNA lineages in Europe came from a Middle Eastern migration into Europe during the Late Glacial period, ~19–12 thousand years ago and not as late as the Neolithic as was previously proposed.[7] They argued that this population came from a previously contracted European population refugium on the Anatolian Plateau which spread to three further refugia, Franco-Cantabria, the Italian Peninsula and the East European Plain. From these three areas the lineages would then have repopulated Europe.
Germanic & Scandinavian genetics[edit]
Another subject in the literature which has been widely discussed is whether genetics can show signs of Germanic invasions particularly in England. In a widely cited article through DNA testing, Weale et al. (2002) argued that the Y DNA data showed signs of a racial "apartheid" in Anglo-Saxon England. The clear signs of Germanic influx all over Britain is now widely accepted and has been shown in other studies such as Capelli et al. (2003). The Capelli study made to important observations: the English, Frisian, and Dutch samples were indistinguishable from each other - and North German/Danish genetic frequences were indistinguishable, thus precluding any ability to distinguish between the genetic influence of the Anglo-Saxon source populations and the later, and better documented, influx of Danish Vikings.[8]
A study into the Norwegian Viking ancestry of British people found that there is evidence of particular concentrations in several areas; especially in Lowland and Eastern Scotland - and the north sea islands Shetland and Orkney, Western Scotland and the Western Isles including Skye in Scotland, Anglesey in Wales, the Isle of Man, and the Wirral, Mid-Cheshire, West Lancashire and Cumbria in England

1) It might surprise Professor Oppenheimer, that on this basic DNA question, there is absolutely nothing in his arguments about the Celtics and their origins that any serious Celtic scholar would object to. In fact, in spite of Professor Oppenheimer's claims to the opposite, Celtic scholars have been putting forward the same conclusions since the 19th Century - long before DNA became the new fashion.
So they agree with him!, no rebuke there.
2) no mention of him, link agrees with him.
3) no mention of him, link agrees with him.
So now that we've established that the English were in fact here at the time of the Romans, my initial statement stands, you can get back to your pedantry with someone else now.
I hope that on this occasion you've learnt something of value, the English are British and all the evidence points to this fact.

lol that proves you did not read them at all Scrat, because point 2 and 3 in their findings are very different to what he claimed
How many more times will you understand, English is different to the original Brits, or have you never heard of cultures before, seriously stop embarrassing yourself.

2013,,,,
Now I am not disputing any of this but it has become clear that this event did not mark the beginnings of Germanic colonisation in Britain.
That process began much earlier so that at the time of the Roman conquest there was already a Germanic presence in England. One of the best arguments for this theory is contained in Part 3 of Stephen Oppenheimer`s The Origins of the British. This is an excellent and very thoroughly researched book which I recommend to anyone interested in the origins of the English and British peoples. Aryanists and Anglo-Saxonists will take heart in his theory of a much earlier Germanic and Indo-European presence in the British Isles than traditionally historians would admit. The most negative opinions of the work are usually by people who have never read the book in its entirety or have not properly understood it. Oppenheimer analyses the structure and lexicon of Old English and comes to the conclusion that it is not merely an offshoot of the West Germanic or Ingaevonic language group. Its genesis is more complicated than that. It does indeed share a close similarity in structure with Old Frisian but its lexicon is greatly affected by North Germanic-Old Norse. Now my readers must not jump to the conclusion that this is the result of the Viking invasions as these took place centuries after the advent of the Anglo-Saxons. So any Scandinavian influence on Old English would have had to have taken place before the Saxon invasions but this does not make sense as before these invasions there was no English presence in Britain-or so it would seem. Thus Oppenheimer theorises that there was indeed a Germanic language and thus a Germanic presence already here in England by the time of the Anglo-Saxon invasions. Gildas in his De Exidio et Conquestu Britanniae[On the Ruin and Conquest of Britain] in the 6th century CE wrote:
The Belgae were not Celtic speaking and on the continent they included a number of Germanic tribes amongst them. Oppenheimer states that the Belgae probably spoke a Germanic language,
"perhaps ancestral to Dutch or Frisian which they carried to England even before the Roman invasions."
What is amazing is the lack of Celtic place names in England. So according to Oppenheimer one must assume either the Britons were entirely exterminated by the Anglo-Saxons or that there was already a Germanic language being spoken in England in the areas initially invaded by the Anglo-Saxons. Looking also at the English language it has always intrigued me that there are less than two dozen Celtic loan words in the language and that these stem from places that were known to be Celtic such as Cornwall and Cumbria[Corn-Wealas and Cymru]. Yet there are far more Latin and Norman loan words than this. PC archaeologists and historians who discredit the Germanic invasion or wipe-out theories cannot adequately explain this. There is no historic precedent for this. We also know of course that many of the so-called `Roman` soldiers were in fact Germanic mercenaries and this Germanic presence has been known by scholars for years. However the Germanic genetic, cultural and language penetration into southern and eastern England has a much deeper antiquity than this, something which Woden`s Folk was already aware of before the publication of this book in 2006. Even Tolkien was aware of this and it is reflected in his mythology. When the Germanic peoples invaded England in the period from 449CE to the Danish conquests they were in fact RETURNING to England. Thus the English whether you take the 449CE date or project it back into the Neolithic or Bronze Age are in fact indigenous to Britain if the UN definition is anything to go by. Indeed we are probably one of the very oldest of Indigenous peoples:
"Indigenous communities, peoples and nations are those which, having a historical continuity with pre-invasion and pre-colonial societies that developed on their territories, consider themselves distinct from other sectors of the societies now prevailing in those territories, or parts of them. They form at present non-dominant sectors of society and are determined to preserve, develop, and transmit to future generations their ancestral territories, and their ethnic identity, as the basis of their continued existence as peoples, in accordance with their own cultural patterns, social institutions and legal systems."

Okay lets really show you up:
1) Excavating Past Population Structures by Surname-Based Sampling: The Genetic Legacy of the Vikings in Northwest England : aim at assessing the genetic impact of Norwegian Vikings in West Lancashire and the Wirral Peninsula. Comparison with samples from Norway, Orkney, the Shetlands, the Isle of Man, Cheshire, Anglesey, etc.
Summary :
Percentage of Scandinavian admixture in modern populations (average with other studies cited) : Anglesey (10%), Western Scotland (15%), Mid-Cheshire (21%), Western Isles and Skye (22.5%), Cumbria (37%), Wirral and West Lancashire (38%), Isle of Man (39%), Orkey (40%), Shetlands (42.5%).
Comparison with medieval samples : Wirral (47%), West Lancashire (51%)
http://mbe.oxfordjournals.org/cgi/content/full/25/2/301
Tracing the Phylogeography of Human Populations in Britain Based on 4th-11th Century mtDNA Genotypes : analysis of ancient and medieval British mtDNA samples to assess the importance of female migrations of Roman, Anglo-Saxon and Viking origin. Unfortunately, the conclusion isn't clear because of too limited samples. Results from Roman and early Saxon cemterries were merged under "Early Ancient" to add to the confusion.

Y Chromosome Evidence for Anglo-Saxon Mass Migration : attempts to find evidence of an Anglo-Saxon mass migration to central England (East Anglia and Midlands) by comparing Y-DNA haplotypes of Wales, central England, Friesland and Norway.
Conclusion : samples from central England and Friesland are almost undistinguishable. proving that a massive proportion of central English people descend from the Anglo-Saxons. Conversely, samples in North Wales and Norway were quite different.

Genetic evidence for different male and female roles in the British Isles : attempts to estimate the impact of successive migrations on the genetic make-up of Britain, by comparing the Y-DNA, mtDNA and X-chromosome in Wales, England and Orkney to Ireland, Norway, Friesland, the Basques (closet assumed descendent of the Paleolithic Europeans), the Anatolian Turks and Syrians (bothassociated with the source population of the Neolithic migrations).

Re: Put Free Palestine on your Bank Notes
And the icing on the cake:
Biological differences among races do not exist, WU research shows
By Tony Fitzpatrick
Race doesn't matter.
In fact, it doesn't even exist in humans.
While that may sound like the idealistic decree of a minister or rabbi, it's actually the conclusion of an evolutionary and population biologist at Washington University.
Alan R. Templeton, Ph.D., professor of biology in Arts and Sciences, has analyzed DNA from global human populations that reveal the patterns of human evolution over the past one million years. He shows that while there is plenty of genetic variation in humans, most of the variation is individual variation. While between-population variation exists, it is either too small, which is a quantitative variation, or it is not the right type of qualitative variation -- it does not mark historical sublineages of humanity.
Using the latest molecular biology techniques, Templeton has analyzed millions of genetic sequences found in three distinct types of human DNA and concludes that, in the scientific sense, there is no such thing as race.
"Race is a real cultural, political and economic concept in society, but it is not a biological concept, and that unfortunately is what many people wrongfully consider to be the essence of race in humans -- genetic differences," Templeton said. "Evolutionary history is the key to understanding race, and new molecular biology techniques offer so much on recent evolutionary history. I wanted to bring some objectivity to the topic. This very objective analysis shows the outcome is not even a close call: There's nothing even like a really distinct subdivision of humanity."
Templeton used the same strategy to try to identify race in human populations that evolutionary and population biologists use for non-human species, from salamanders to chimpanzees. He treated human populations as if they were non-human populations.
"I'm not saying these results don't recognize genetic differences among human populations," he cautioned. "There are differences, but they don't define historical lineages that have persisted for a long time."
Templeton's paper, "Human Races: A Genetic and Evolutionary Perspective," is published in the fall 1998 issue of the American Anthropologist, an issue almost exclusively devoted to race. The new editor-in-chief of the American Anthropologist is Robert W. Sussman, Ph.D., professor of anthropology in Arts and Sciences.
"The folk concept of race in America is so ingrained as being biologically based and scientific that it is difficult to make people see otherwise," said Sussman, a biological anthropologist. "We live on the one-drop racial division --if you have one drop of black or Native American blood, you are considered black or Native American, but that doesn't cover one's physical characteristics.
"Templeton's paper," Sussman continued, "shows that if we were forced to divide people into groups using biological traits, we'd be in real trouble. Simple divisions are next to impossible to make scientifically, yet we have developed simplistic ways of dividing people socially."
Single lineage
Templeton analyzed genetic data from mitochondrial DNA, a form inherited only from the maternal side; Y chromosome DNA, paternally inherited DNA; and nuclear DNA, inherited from both sexes. His results showed that 85 percent of genetic variation in the human DNA was due to individual variation. A mere 15 percent could be traced to what could be interpreted as "racial" differences.
"The 15 percent is well below the threshold that is used to recognize race in other species," Templeton said. "In many other large mammalian species, we see rates of differentiation two or three times that of humans before the lineages are even recognized as races. Humans are one of the most genetically homogenous species we know of. There's lots of genetic variation in humanity, but it's basically at the individual level. The between-population variation is very, very minor."
Among Templeton's conclusions: There is more genetic similarity between Europeans and sub-Saharan Africans and between Europeans and Melanesians, inhabitants of islands northeast of Australia, than there is between Africans and Melanesians. Yet, sub-Saharan Africans and Melanesians share dark skin, hair texture and cranial-facial features, traits commonly used to classify people into races. According to Templeton, this example shows that "racial traits" are grossly incompatible with overall genetic differences between human populations.
"The pattern of overall genetic differences instead tells us that genetic lineages rapidly spread out to all of humanity, indicating that human populations have always had a degree of genetic contact with one another, and thus historically don't show any distinct evolutionary lineages within humanity," Templeton said. "Rather, all of humanity is a single long-term evolutionary lineage."

And that then answers the question as to why there are so few Celtic place names and Celtic words in the English language.
Us English are British, your denial of this provides some entertainment, but in the words of Smelly, you're boring me now!

Us English are British, your denial of this provides some entertainment, but in the words of Smelly, you're boring me now!

Are the deflection reply when faced with such damning evidence.
No English is derived from the Angles, showing again you are clueless on history, so how could the people of ancient Briton people be Angles? Even the Romans were made up of many different people, showing it is all in a name, nothing more, so how you even comprehend the ancient Brits were English is just daft and again absurd based on no science or history whatsoever, because no such conception came until the Saxons came along. Even the Celts originated from Germanic regions
The fact is the people have seen many influxes of groups from Romans, Vikings, etc that these cultures have merged where again many also had natives wives, all Stephen works shows is through one side a few people descend back to the original people who came to these shores, what it fails to do is also show on the other side, that many are of mixed ethnic roots, if you do not believe me get your own tested and I bet you any money that it will be mixed.
The fact you disgustingly and racially claim the English are superior to others, based on a rather daft and non-biological view, where there is no such thing as races biologically as proven, shows even within the left there are mindless racists

Oh behave you racist, I am English and do not hate them, (that would be hating myself, doh) and am very proud of this nation, I just do not make up bullshit as you do to formulate your racist claim to the English being superior, we are just all humans, some humans have advanced society and clueless people think just because some of these are English, makes all English people as brilliant as they were. It is a flawed and idiotic view point that many racists share, when they argue against black people with a claim of inferiority for example.
The fact I am of immigrant parents and see myself as English, shows how poor your views are, even more that I have to educate you on the history of this country.
Again there was no conception of English until the arrival of the angles and as seen there is many people also descended from countless other ethnic groups, so do yourself a favour and have your ancestry tested genetically, because you will be in for a big surprise

Oh how sad you pathetic little racist commie, ha ha, proving how racist you really are, I was born in England and raised in England, that makes me English and British with Irish and Sicilian ethnicity and was never raised in Ireland, so how can I go back to somewhere I was not raised?

I am certainly proud of my Irish heritage, as I am proud of being English, but what you need to get into your head, is no group of people is racially superior to others, because we are all one biological race.

What a load of garbage, no where have I shown hatred towards the English, I have disputed your claims, that is not showing hatred, that is disputing your claims, I have also exposed the following:
1) You have denied me my birth right, thus claiming I am not English or British, that is racist, which is even more daft, because my Irish family actually descends back to England, and being as I have had my ancestry tested, I know a fair chunk, 40% of my DNA comes from the British Isle's, showing again, you are so wrong on every level.
2) You have claimed countless times the English are superior, which is not even logical, or backed by any science or biology, what you would in fact be claiming is that the English are indeed a biological different race, having superior brains to all other humans on the planet, which of course such a claim is pure bollocks. As seen anyway we all descend from Africa and the first people to these shores, now not extinct, were from other European areas, where even the studies I have shown show a vast amount of people here with different ethnic groups.
3) You told me to fuck off to a country I was not born to, now how many times have you heard a racist tell a British Indian to fuck off back to their own country, even though India itself would seem very alien to them, even more so if they had never been there, or if this was said to a Black Britain? You see that is racist also, you then when I have exposed these poor illogical view points you have, claim I hate the British.
4) No where have I stated I hate English people, or hate the English, hate the country, hate its food, hate its culture, hate its history, at no point have I stated this at any time, thus show any post where I state any of these points?
I never have, you are just annoyed I exposed you.
Conclusion
You do hold racist view points, I would not claim you are racist per say, but as seen you certainly hold racist tendencies.
As to your other absurd claims, on now using a derogatory view of a person calling them a retard, exposing more of your prejudice views, how are this not academic:

Saturday, 12th July, a group called Jews Against Genocide (JAG) held a memorial service for Palestinian children killed by Israel in its current attack on Gaza. JAG set aflame to a pile of dolls covered in red paint at Yad Vashem, Israel’s holocaust memorial museum. Jews Against Genocide (JAG) is a movement of Jews from all over the world, including Israelis, who are protesting against Israel’s intent to commit genocide against the non-Jewish indigenous people of Palestine.
The Yad Vashem security guard attempted to disrupt the memorial, confiscated JAG’s fire extinguisher, and called the Israeli police to arrest the participants.
We, Jews Against Genocide, came to Yad Vashem, Israel’s memorial of the genocide committed against Jews, to honor the Palestinian children who are dying in a genocide committed by Jews.
We brought dolls to symbolise the children of Gaza, and tried to bring a glimpse of the horror that Gazan’s face, to Israel’s doorstep. We hope to show Israel, and the world, the absurd reality of using the memory of one genocide to justify another.
We invite compassionate people from across the globe to join the outcry by staging similar protests in front of Israeli embassies and consulates around the world on Tuesday 15th and Wednesday 16th July, 2014.
Just as we honor the people who were murdered seven decades ago in Europe because they were Jews, we are here to honor the people who are being murdered at this very moment because they are the indigenous people of this land who are not Jews.
The UN Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide defines Genocide as, “any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such:
(a) Killing members of the group;
(b) Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group;
(c) Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part; [...]“
The children of Gaza, who are being systematically murdered as we write this article, constitute 52% percent of the population under siege in the strip. The vast majority of these children are descendants of refugees from historical Palestine.
In the current round of atrocities committed by the Israel occupation army, so far dozens of children have been murdered in their homes, with Israel’s war-making leadership vowing “much higher costs” on the Palestinian side as the bombing and shelling continues.
The war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in Gaza today are the latest stage of an ongoing campaign of ethnic cleansing and genocide against the indigenous people of this land.
The Jewish State was founded on the Zionist principle of “maximum Jews on maximum land, and minimum Arabs on minimum land”, which was made reality through sixty-six years of continued assault against Palestinians, denying them the right to live freely and peacefully in their historical homeland.
The Israeli regime has turned the beautiful Gaza strip into a densely populated ghetto, with unsafe water, untreated sewage, and insufficient resources and electricity. This ghetto has become a concentration camp, through repeated Israeli massacres in what the Goldstone Report described as an effort to, “humiliate and terrorize a civilian population, radically diminish[ing] its local economic capacity.”
We express our support and solidarity for the Palestinian civil society’s call for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) against Israel, until it complies with the three basic demands of:
1. Ending its occupation and colonization of all Arab lands and dismantling the Wall
2. Recognizing the fundamental rights of the Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel to full equality; and
3. Respecting, protecting and promoting the rights of Palestinian refugees to return to their homes and properties as stipulated in UN resolution 194.

One enjoys your denial of the reality, and there is a trend of denial in you which provides some light entertainment, this is a platform you share with racist nazi scum like aka kaka and mentor (Davros the Dalek).
One remembers that you believed you could racially abuse Muslims because they did not fit your criteria as a race,,,,of course, you, aka kaka and mentor were reminded that "ethnicity" was also used in the race relations act to prevent racist nazi scum such as yourself abusing minorities, and so you crawled back under your rock until your hero Breivik hit the scene,,,at which point you demonstrated your support for his activities and included your belief that British children should be raped and murdered to further your cause.
Apartheid, as you should know, is not welcome in this world.
The State of Palestine[i] (Arabic: دولة فلسطين Dawlat Filasṭīn), is a sovereign state.
General use of the term "Palestine" or related terms to the area at the southeast corner of the Mediterranean Sea besides Syria has historically been taking place since the times of Ancient Greece, with Herodotus writing of a "district of Syria, called Palaistine" in which Phoenicians interacted with other maritime peoples.
Palestine exists, Palestinians exist, get over it and move on.
