Look up what Quantitative Majority Voting means in terms of your ability to have a say in what happens to your country.

Imagine a situation where every person in the UK votes unanimously for one thing - and then has the do the polar opposite because other EU countries decide it.

Consider what sort of democracy is achieve where 12.4% of the population only get 8.4% of the vote but 0.9% get 2.09%.

JD the EU is the definition of corrupt - in case you have missed it we have just seen Schultz given a second term as president of the parliament despite the EPP being a majority in order to get Juncker elected as president of the commission. (theres a clue - 2 presidents in the same organization - how can that possibly be bad?)

In the UK the electorate can boot out a corrupt government and overturn its laws within five years - in the EU that not only does not happen it cannot happen.

The idea of the EU saving anyone from corruption is laughable.

Still I suppose I can see why the Scots would find it a good idea - if they get independence and stay in the EU their percentage of the vote will be bigger than their percentage of the population.

It is unavoidable that in an organization involving those on mainland Europe Britain is going to be at odds because we have a totally different underpinning of our legal system. The British legal system is based on jury adversarial while the France and Germany and most of the rest of the EU is based on court inquisitorial. While there are pro and con arguments for both systems and it is considered over all neither system is better than the other they are very different and work differently. When 3/4 of an organization is used to working one way they are not going to be led by someone from the 1/4 that works a different way.

Democracy comes from the Greeks, we're all European by nature, Britain has had an economic convergence for over 300 years and here we are today still struggling with identity.

In my mind we should be a tad more proactive and fight for British ideals, a free health service, education, a home, a living wage, then we can talk about low growth and high returns and investment in capital infrastructure projects for the future.

If we're in, we fight, just standing at the fence bleating inanely,,, is pathetic!
