Ex-Govt Adviser Charged Over Child Images
A former adviser to David Cameron has been charged with making and possessing indecent images of children.
Patrick Rock, 63, was arrested at his home in London in February after Downing Street contacted police.
He has been charged with three offences of making indecent images of children and one offence of possessing 59 indecent images of children.
The National Crime Agency (NCA) said the four charges cover offences allegedly committed between July 31 and August 31, 2013.
Asked about the decision at a press conference in Brussels, the Prime Minister said: "I won't be saying anything.
"It would be purely a matter for the courts and it wouldn't be appropriate to comment."
Rock has been bailed to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on July 3.
The NCA said the images have been assessed by Child Exploitation and Online Protection (CEOP) officers and Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) lawyers as meeting the definition of Level C.
Level C is defined as "indecent images depicting erotic posing with no sexual activity", an NCA spokeswoman said.
Rock, a special adviser on policy, was arrested at his home on February 13. He had resigned from his post a day earlier.
He has been an influential figure behind the scenes in the Conservative Party for decades, and made three unsuccessful bids to become an MP.
In the 1970s, he was credited with coining the Tory slogan "Cows moo, dogs bark, Labour puts up taxes".
In 2011 Rock was drafted in by Mr Cameron - a fellow adviser to former Home Secretary Michael Howard in the 1990s - to beef up the Downing Street policy unit.
Prior to his arrest and resignation, he had been involved in drawing up government policy on internet porn filters.

I've always said there can be people of this awful calibre associated with or in any party , but we have muppets like Kaka and co who have used avatars saying' Labour Party, smash the Paedo Labour Party '
Some on the right are desperate to point score ,not makes them look the real tits that they are.
Despicable man indeed and in truth as I've said that all parties have had scumbags like this, I truthfully can say without being biased or trying to score stupid points that I've honestly always heard far more of the Tories having that sort amongst them...
But I won't shout it from the rooftops like kaka and co so desperately do.

Hi Jane,,,,
I tend to believe that too, as when I was growing up as a wee lad back in the eighties, all I ever seem to hear on telly on the mornings while getting ready for school, was either some Tory perving up a minor , Tory corruption and sleaze, or some clergy from the church also sexually abusing children...
I'm not trying to offend anyone on the right, because I'm certainly not saying that most in the Tory part are like that at all, but from what I've heard while growing up , more often than not, it has been the privileged ones who have committed much of the sexual abuse of children ...
And yes, I definitely think that those who from the upper classes have been involved more with sickening acts of child abuse more than your average Joe in the street.
I agree.
