If you are caught carrying cocaine or cannabis in London, it does matter if you're black or white.
Figures show that black people in the capital are five times as likely to be charged than white people when they are caught with cannabis and nearly twice as likely to be charged when caught with cocaine.
The police statistics indicate 78% of black people found in possession of cocaine are charged rather than cautioned, whereas only 44% of white people are - making them nearly twice as likely to face prosecution.

People of Asian descent are also much more likely to be charged than white people - 64% of those caught with the Class A drug are charged.
With cannabis, black people are more than five times as likely to be charged than white people.
The Metropolitan Police data was collected by the authors of a  joint report by the London School of Economics (LSE) and drug law reform charity Release.
The authors of the report say the racial disparity may be because of "negative stereotyping" on the part of the police.
They said the fact prosecutors abandoned a higher proportion of drugs possession cases against black and Asian people, after they were charged, backed this up.

I guess it depends on a few things.
Firstly if it's a first offence and secondly the amount of cannabis and cocaine on the person, on arrest.

These points are taken into account, on a previous report it showed white males with previous convictions getting off jail sentences, plus most officers are not going to know if they have previous, when they arrest an charge them at the scene.

Which of course twists the figures to make it look as if coloured people commit more crime.

That's not good. Not good at all.
I dislike when people shout "racism!" for no reason (I worked with a girl like that, she was terrible at her job and whenever she was not promoted she'd say the boss was racist!), but this doesn't look good on the police!!

I guess there will be someone looking into this.

Actually Eddie, I do not think it is down much to racism, some of it will be, but most of it is poor stereotypes, which is the conclusion from the report also, there is more in the article and the report on this.

You can't twist the police figures on reported crime and descriptions.

And the other report didn't show whites getting off jail.

It showed a small percentage more likelyhood of blacks getting jail, but not a conclusive study and didn't take into account other mitigating circumstances.

Another huff and puff article I see dodge.

Yes it did show many whites getting off being sent to jail compiled by the ministry of defence

The most common outcome for a white criminal was a community sentence; for Black, Asian and Chinese offenders it was custody. The statistics are broken down by types of crime, ruling out the possibility that black defendants might be being proportionally found guilty of more serious offences.

Disturbingly, in every year studied, a higher proportion of white defendants had previous convictions – which would normally result in a greater number of prosecutions and harsher sentences. But this does not appear to be the case.

The report is by a University, and now the Ministry of Justice is not conclusive in its findings ha ha , what a muppet

That is down to The judges on The day, The mitigating factors, the risk of re offending, danger to public.

So many different factors involved.

We all know the judges can get it wrong sometimes......

And in that case the police didn't even charge them with racially motivated attack.

PMSL again, so now you are saying judges get it wrong 20% more times with white people, oh my, epic own goal, it stills shows a bias, whether they get it wrong or not.

Also the story you show has nothing to do with drinking as to why they got off, to me they were guilt of assault and racism, but how pathetic to use, would you like to see comparison where whites get off assaulting Muslims?
