UKIP councillor: It is a tragedy Section 28 was repealed, gays want to destroy the traditional family
A UKIP Parish Councillor has claimed it is a “tragedy” that Section 28, which prevented the discussion of homosexuality in schools, was ever repealed, because gays want to “destroy the traditional family”.
Iain McLaughlan, a UKIP member of Orton Waterville Parish Council in Peterborough, made the comments on Facebook in February, while praising Vladimir Putin for banning adoption by foreign gay couples.

Iain McLaughlan, a UKIP member of Orton Waterville Parish Council in Peterborough, made the comments on Facebook in February, while praising Vladimir Putin for banning adoption by foreign gay couples.
According to the Mirror, he wrote: “Children need to be protected from the promotion of homosexuality, Margaret Thatcher was right to enact Section 28 in 1988. And it was a tragedy that it was repealed.”
He added: “I have met people who have decided to be homosexual. They went through a period where they were attracted to the opposite sex and decided to be homosexual.
“I have nothing against homosexuals. I have been called one many a time. I think children should be protected from the promotion of homosexuality.”
He added that Section 28 was introduced because “some Labour councils were promoting [homosexuality]“, and that “the gay manifesto some years ago, I think from 1977, wanted to ‘destroy the heterosexual family’.”
A month later, he described abortion as a “modern day holocaust”.
Nigel Farage recently claimed he was unaware of a UKIP councillor who called for “poofters” to be shot, and complained: “All anyone wants to do is talk about the idiots in UKIP”, but that the media doesn’t ask the same questions to the main political parties when controversy occurs.
When UKIP MEP Roger Helmer, who is running for Parliament next week in the UKIP by-election, made a series of anti-gay comments, Farage claimed that ‘most’ over-70s feel uncomfortable with gays.
UKIP candidate Kevin O’Doherty, who appeared in an artistic photograph image where another man snorts a white powder off the naked body of a woman, yesterday dismissed claims that his tattoos had “Nazi symbolism”.

Re: UKIP councillor: It is a tragedy Section 28 was repealed, gays want to destroy the traditional family
To this day no one has actually been able to explain what 'the promotion of homosexuality' is. At least as anything other than the mere discussion of homosexuality in schools, which is right and absolutely not promotion in any way.
If those who support Section 28 cannot even explain how homosexuality was ever promoted, then it will remain seen as the bigoted legislation it was.
Well done UKIP of course for AGAIN exposing the undercurrent of hate that exists in that party.

I don't want to upset either of you gentleman but the fact that UKIP are ignorant bigoted homophobes won't dent their popularity a jot.
The reason? Because for some reason there is a section of society that are just as bigoted, ignorant and homophobic and they are sick of repressing that due to political correctness.
These scumbags WANT to be open about their hatred for gays, that's some of the reason why they vote for UKIP.
If that absurd toxic tosh about gay marriage causing the floods won't put off people voting for these creatures, nothing will.
We have come a long way fighting the prejudice gay people face but sadly I feel there is also a long way to go.
Homosexuality has never been 'promoted',I'm not even sure what that means exactly.

No, there are a large section of society who want out of EU, control on our borders, less immigration, less govt, less spending, and less of 'tail wagging the dog' minority rule.

Re: UKIP councillor: It is a tragedy Section 28 was repealed, gays want to destroy the traditional family
BRISTOL’S Greens are refusing to support the Tories’ nomination for Bristol’s next Lord Mayor following a row about alleged homophobia.
The city council’s Conservative group is understood to be set to nominate Chris Windows for the honorary role, which is rotated between the political parties in turn each year.
But the Greens have announced that they will not give their backing to Mr Windows because of comments he made in 2011 about Gay activist Sir Ian McKellen, which led to him being accused of homophobia by another councillor.
The Henbury ward councillor said at a city council meeting he was “unhappy and disturbed” that local schools had been visited by Lord of the Rings and X-Men star Sir Ian, on behalf of gay rights group Stonewall.

Re: UKIP councillor: It is a tragedy Section 28 was repealed, gays want to destroy the traditional family
A former Labour Party candidate has avoided jail after admitting sending homophobic text messages to a gay rival.
David Bradley, 29, of Bristol, sent 33 text messages to Ed Bramall, 33, calling him “creepy” and “vile” after Mr Bramall was selected instead of him to contest the Whitchurch Park ward at last year’s local elections.
Other explicit messages called Mr Bramall a racist and made reference to anti-gay legislation in Uganda.
Bradley was handed a eight-month suspended sentence after admitting to a charge of harassment without violence between March and August last year, the Bristol Evening Post reports.
