Serious Q to Nems & Cass: I presume tarantulas are dangerous if you touch them/ their web. Are they also dangerous to just be in the same room as, or would they leave one alone?

Interesting... I can't imagine owning one as a pet as they're supposed to be incapable of forming benign relationships with humans? They'd regard a human who tried to pick them up as an enemy even if he'd been feeding them daily for the past three years.

I often have huntsmen with a legspan of about 15-20 cm in my bedroom (and every room) the Biggest one I had legs span was about the same as an A4 page.

plenty of the little black house spiders too..

only had a couple of funnel webs(most dangerous spider in the world) wander in during their mating season. ::D::

If you can be bothered you pick them up on a piece of paper and move them out side ( I gave up with the Big one since she was about the size of the paper).... I often can't be bothered they are not aggressive and will do everything they can to keep out of your way.(unlike the little redback bastards, they attack anything that touches their web and one of the most venomous too)
