Investigation In To Freddie Starr Dropped
6th May 2014
I'm very happy for him and his wife and family
Freddie Starr will not be prosecuted after spending 18 months on bail for sex crime allegations, it was revealed today.
The 71-year-old comedian from Warwickshire was first arrested in November 2012 by detectives from sex crime inquiry Operation Yewtree, and was re-bailed several times.
Today prosecutors said he will not be charged in relation to 13 alleged victims because of insufficient evidence, and that action will not be taken over another because it is not in the public interest.
Baljit Ubhey, from the Crown Prosecution Service, said: ‘Having carefully reviewed this case, we have decided that there is insufficient evidence to prosecute Freddie Starr in relation to allegations of sexual offences made by 13 individuals.
‘Each allegation was considered on its own merits and we have concluded that the available evidence does not offer a realistic prospect of conviction for any of the alleged offences.
‘In relation to one further complainant, we have decided that although there is sufficient evidence for a realistic prospect of conviction, according to the Code for Crown Prosecutors, a prosecution would not be in the public interest.
‘It must be remembered that a determination by a prosecutor that there is sufficient evidence to prosecute under the Code does not mean that the suspect is guilty of the offence.

It was Karin Ward who accused him. I read ages ago that he's suing her for defamation.

Re: Investigation In To Freddie Starr Dropped
So far:
NO FURTHER ACTION
Wilfred De'ath
Wilfred De’ath: The former BBC producer was arrested on November 11, 2012 on suspicion of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl, but was released without charge after a woman withdrew a complaint against him. The 76-year-old has blasted police for being ‘overzealous’, pursuing ‘spurious’ claims, and failing ‘lamentably’ to stop Savile’s reign of terror while he was still alive.
Jim Davidson
Jim Davidson: The comedian was arrested on January 2, last year on suspicion of sexual offences, but the 60-year-old Big Brother winner was later told he would not face further action.
Mike Osman
Mike Osman: The 54-year-old radio DJ was arrested in January last year on suspicion of sex offences. But he was told he will not face any charges last August.
Ted Beston
Ted Beston: The former BBC radio producer was arrested on December 19, 2012. In May last year it was announced that the 77-year-old would not face any further action.
Jimmy Tarbuck
Jimmy Tarbuck: The 74-year-old comedian was arrested in April last year over allegations of child sex abuse in the 1970s, but released without charge two months ago

She was one of the first to accuse Jimmy Savile. She was at Duncroft School where it was claimed that he abused several girls. Karin Ward said Jimmy Savile abused her, and she also accused Freddie Starr of touching her up at the BBC when they were doing Clunk Click.
