I've just started playing AC for the very first time ... yeah, I'm on the cutting edge!
I'm not a big-time gamer; had to sort of wean myself away from it because it would eat hours out of my day. I really liked the first Star Wars: The Force Unleashed for the PS3, and I was a fan of GTA Vice City and San Andreas.

I know what you mean about the time running a way with some games, especially the free roaming games, often looked at the clock and realised it's 3am and i had work that morning...ooops
I remembered when the first Gears of war came out I was playing online until the sun came up many times...
good job VOD is easy going...

I played the first two Assassins Creeds; the first got boring fast but the second was brilliant
Best console game ever though; it is probably a tie between the legendary Final Fantasy VII on PSone:
And the gorgeous Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker on Gamecube:

Man, that is why I stayed well away from WoW -- just knew I'd get sucked in and nobody'd ever hear from me again. I'd be like one of those kids who died from playing video games too long ...

I'm having trouble with that and not knowing what the hell I'm supposed to be doing ...
Re: What's your all time favourite console Game..
Love Zelda, though more into PC strategy games like Total war, now playing Rome 2 which is not as good as the first. Also love Skyrim

Samey is the word! Fortunately they improved immediately with the sequel, my cousin still plays the series and loves it.
Your sons have great taste; though re:Final Fantasy; they got shit after Final Fantasy X in any case

For strategy I liked Civilization Revolution- brilliant game, especially for a history buff like me
Skyrim- I might have give that a go but Elder Scrolls games are time sinks; I played Oblivion for somewhere over 60 hours and barely scratched the surface

the timed bits on assassins creed wind me up a bit...thumbs don't work right sometimes but the graphics and the story line are fantastic..
If I remember right it was the turn based thing that out them off the final fantasy, they moaned it slowed things down or something...

I like the strategy involved in turn based games
The graphics on AC are almost the best I've ever seen in games- but for THE best it has to be the Uncharted series

Anybody ever play Final Fantasy Tactics? It was a bit different from the rest of the FF series, but I loved it.
A guy who reviewed it said it was one of the hardest games to beat he'd ever played, but I didn't find it that hard, just involving ...

I say the graphics are better, which they are; but the gameplay itself is very different; I prefer Uncharted but it is mostly a shooter with some puzzle solving; online is outstanding
^Never play Tactics Ben though I was often told it was both one of the best FF games and hardest haha

What are you talking about Rome 2 is awesome, I think it is better than the first, mainly because of the cultural factors have bigger play and the re-enforcing/recruitment mechanisms are better.
And have you played a combined naval land siege yet? looks amazing and the techie in me is amazed by the engine that runs it all so well.
Finished one play thru, I Conquered the World (Military victory) with Baktria
But I have played all the ones in between, Napoleon has the best mechanics I think but Empire is the most expansive game, not a fan of Shogun 2 but that could be the Japanese honour system (troops seem to wait in turn to fight even the weak ones that would need to double team to stand a chance.. )

More of a Sonic fan than Mario (but I always had Sega not Nintendo)
FF7 is probably the greatest game of all time. the fact it had casinos and theme parks in it, which had some advanced mini games that were almost as good as titles you would buy standalone at the time (a snowboarding one comes to mind).
Plus the depth of story and scale of the world, breeding you own mounts. the fact there were monsters 10 times stronger than the main boss if you decide to keep playing and hunt them out.
