I admit it's more of a knowing giggle fest than a laugh out loud show, but one thing I loved about it was the absence of the canned laughter   that you get with all other sitcoms
Trivia, has there been any other sitcom without the canned laughter ? I can't think of any.

The Office! I always liked the British version better, it was so bleak you couldn't help but laugh. Though the U.S. version had its moments too.

Yeah, apparently we do, though I haven't seen it. I just found a site for all the British shows that PBS broadcasts, I had forgotten there were so many -- AbFab, Keeping Up Appearances, Are You Being Served ... tons of them: http://valdefierro.com/

Do they show Dad's Army?   The undertaker in that, John Laurie, during a break in his acting career, taught drama for a short time at the school I went to.   Amazing man, could send shivers up your spine on a hot sunny day.
