Theirs has always been the most intriguing of relationships. Both dazzling beauties and outsiders who married into the Royal Family.
Here were two very different women: Kate with her charmingly English reserve in public and Meghan a poised and glossy American performer.
One restrained by the knowledge that she is destined to be queen, the other articulate and comfortable in front of the cameras.
But were the Duchess of Cambridge and the Duchess of Sussex ever really friends as sisters-in-law, or were they sisters-at-war?
After Sunday night’s devastating Oprah Winfrey interview, there can be only one serious conclusion. Again and again, Meghan steered the conversation round to Kate, their status and how differently they were treated. Or at least that’s what she claimed, and it bordered on obsession.
To Meghan’s thinking, throughout her time in the Royal Family there was ‘a narrative of a hero and a villain’ for the two women. And she left viewers in no doubt that she was the one being painted as the latter.

I found this take very interesting and wonder if there is any truth to it
Some it certainly makes sense
What do others think?

Meghan married a prince and thought it was like a fairytale where she woukd be queen... Her nose was obviously put out of joint when she realised that she was playing second fiddle to Kate.

My view is there was obviously rivalry. probably more on Meghans side than Kates.
Meghan would always be one step behind the wife of the future king on England, and she imo wanted to be the main attraction.
The criticism she has received, and a lot of it was nasty, was not unusual for the women who join the royal family.
Diana was hounded for many years, luckily social media hadn't taken hold then, if it had God knows how badly she would have been slated.
Kate was sneered at for being 'waity Katie', bland and boring, etc etc...
I think the way the two sisters in law have handled the criticism has been the turning point, Kate kept quiet and was classy, Meghan, not so much.
Unfortunately Meghan seems to have put all the nastiness down to her colour, and she has made a huge deal of that. But she was the same colour when Harry introduced her to the Royal family and the British public, and she was welcomed and liked by the vast majority.
I doubt Kate takes any enjoyment from how everything has ended, but she will no doubt just carry on serenely in public, because that's her job.

Apparently, an email has come to light that was clearly a private one, sent by Meghan to only two or three of her most senior staff at most.
It's been quoted by Omid Scobie, Meghan's biographer, in full and raises the question of how it came into the author's possession and was it leaked by the Duchess of Sussex herself?
If not, then surely, critics asked yesterday, she would be complaining that a private email had been published without her knowledge.
The couple said that after their interview, they felt they 'needed to have their say' but now 'considered the matter closed' and wanted to 'move on'.
But since the screening, a raft of close friends and supporters have been given permission to push their case on social media and over the airwaves.

I think too that one of the reasons William urged Harry to take his time with getting married to Meghan is that Kate waited years to get used to the protocol and lifestyle instead of just jumping in for better or worse. William had to be certain she'd stay the course. Particularly after what happened to their mother. Harry hadn't the sense to see this, and instead had a huge row with William and accused him of being controlling. I don't think that was the case at all. I think William was wise in taking his time to marry...it's a huge commitment and the role of a Royal is not easy. Now, of course, that could be construed as 'racist' by the right on brigade who love nothing better than to whip up the drama and wear the hair shirt of wokedom. If I'd have been William I'd have done the same. Take your time. Make certain she will want this lifestyle.
But then of course, there's intimations from Harry himself that he wanted out and Meghan was his backdoor to freedom. Though why the hell he didn't have the balls to do it earlier if his life was so bad, only seems to highlight how weak and needy he is.
