Andrew Cuomo Is New York’s Richard Nixon
Perhaps the biggest political scandal in America right now is playing out in New York, where Governor Andrew Cuomo is in a lot of trouble — and rightly so. The Democratic governor did not merely wildly mismanage his state’s response to the COVID-19 emergency, while netting himself a lucrative book deal and an Emmy. He did something worse.
In the middle of a public health emergency, he used his office to help one of his largest political donors shield itself from legal consequences as fifteen thousand nursing home residents died from COVID-19 — and then he and his administration underreported that death toll, helping the same donor.
We had been covering the story for months before it exploded this week. The scandal is a cautionary tale of hubris, megalomania, and corruption that left a literal mountain of preventable COVID-19 deaths in its wake. Now we are about to see whether a blue state’s democratic institutions can hold wrongdoers accountable, or whether America’s culture of impunity can once again protect the powerful from facing any consequences at all.
Amid a cacophony of demands for Cuomo to resign, the governor and his aides are frantically trying to cover up the basic facts of what happened, and that includes launching a Nixonian campaign of intimidation and retribution against Democratic lawmakers who have for months been sounding the alarm.
Two national news outlets today detailed Cuomo’s new campaign of retribution against one lawmaker in his own party who dared to ask questions about constituents and family members who died under Cuomo’s nursing home policies. Cuomo held a press conference to publicly berate the same Democrat, while another New York news outlet reported that other lawmakers are now facing threats.

This is a socialist publication, so take their bias into account, but those Cuomo boys like to play bully, and there is no doubt that putting all of those Covid positive patients into nursing homes was a disaster.

Pshaww… Shakespeare titled one of his comedies, Much Ado About Nothing...
RW'ers are desperate to find some fook-up that doesn't involve their own selfishness...and those are just the one's that got caught. Two Republican senators from Georgia just got ousted due to insider stock and real estate deals. South Carolina’s (Republican) Senator Lindsey Graham is about to be indicted for election interference. Hell, the Republican ex-President was taped doing the same thing.
Right now, Andrew Cuomo is a hero for doing what no Republican could do...managing a pandemic crisis. There's bound to be yipper dogs snapping at his shoes. Pay them no mind.

It was written by David Sirota, a senior adviser and speechwriter for Bernie Sanders. Sanders, you might recall if you didn't have your head up your ass, is a potential leader of the far left faction of the Democratic Party.
That faction would naturally be out to throw stones at other potential leaders of the Democrats, particularly successful achievers like Cuomo.
Like I said, yipper dogs...

So this doesn't have a fucking thing to do with right wing anyone.

No, you're not very quick.
You are the RW'er and you are desperate to find something to hang on one of the heroes of the pandemic crisis...because your kind failed so miserably.
You don't care where you get it. So, you reach over into the socialist corner to dig up dirt. It still defines what you are doing.
You're one of those yipper dogs, yapping at the shoes of someone taller.

Yes you are. You are flailing about to find something, anything to hurl at the adversary's heroes ... because of your side's own recent, great failure.
Why else would you gratuitously throw stones at Cuomo, whom you haven't thought of in decades.

To be fair, right-wingers will probably have to back away from this story, because otherwise they would have to admit that Covid wasn't invented by Democrats to make Trump look bad.

This makes sense. When the fire is out, you put the tools back in the shed. It's business as usual. Under ordinary circumstances, you don't need such extraordinary measures.
What I find is interesting is the response of RW'ers, who after the smoke clears, realize that they fooked-up royally. They put a guy in charge who has less talent, but makes more noise than a fart in church.
Now, their whole effort is to find someone who looks as bad as they do. They spend their lives dreaming up these false equivalencies. Would that they spent as much time tending to the fires, as they do running around and chasing wild geese.

Re: Andrew Cuomo Is New York’s Richard Nixon
Former Cuomo executive assistant Charlotte Bennett said that Cuomo harassed her last spring. The 25-year-old claims Cuomo made myriad inappropriate comments, including talking to her about his loneliness and his openness to dating younger women and asking her prying questions about her personal romantic attachments.
"I understood that the governor wanted to sleep with me, and felt horribly uncomfortable and scared," Bennett told The New York Times in a detailed interview. "And was wondering how I was going to get out of it and assumed it was the end of my job." Not long thereafter, Bennett was transferred to another department.

Re: Andrew Cuomo Is New York’s Richard Nixon
Republicans have taken a page out of the Democratic book. Only, they left behind truth. Indeed, the LW has been the champion of equal rights/justice for blacks, women, Asians, LGBTQ, the aged, and all manner of marginalized people. Among their causes is sexual politics, as seen in the fates of Bill Cosby and Harvey Weinstein.
Republicans have weaponized this and turned it into a way of attacking people they don't like. They saw how effective were the masses of women accusers of Donald Trump, and like tokenism, recruited certain women to make stirring allegations. Only, they forgot truth.
To Republicans, truth has never been a necessary element of politics...they've always favored special interests over the common interest. Why not just invent the lie. Surely, like Republicans can find token blacks to put out in front of their politics, they can also find disgruntled women who can serve as accusers.
It's most telling that Donald Trump elicited some 18 accusers--as did Cosby and Weinstein draw many, many complainants. But, with their fakery, Republican can find only one accuser. Sexual predations take place in larger numbers; an abusive personality doesn't turn it off after one. So, why are Republicans only able to find one accuser (the second accuser complains only of speech acts and conversation)?
Could it be that this is a contrived effort to create appearances? Republicans are well-used to finding token blacks for the right candidacy or other occasion. Why not find a token, disgruntled employee to make sexual accusations against a strategic enemy.
It's just a form of mirror-politics...insert a Democratic name, and find a look-a-like to make false accusations (only one), and you trump (no pun intended) up charges.

No, she's legitimate in calling for investigations. If it's fair, it will only prove out the innocence of the accused. The one fact is telling: sexual abusers don't just turn it off after one. They are repeat offenders. Why are there not flocks of women coming forward?
So, one accuser...there's a 50-50 chance it's a disgruntled employee.

Here's their names.
Only Charlotte Bennett has made accusations of actual sexual harassment. Boylan has recanted, and now says only that Cuomo made conversation that made her uncomfortable. So, it all boils down to: she didn't like his talk.
So, in other words, Boylan backed off when she saw what game was afoot with Republicans. She was calm, and she previously had requested a transfer to another job of her choosing. That was granted and the situation was resolved. Apparently. that was what she wanted anyway.
It boils down to Bennett. Where are all the others? A sexual harasser is a habitual offender. If the accusation is that he was attracted to a specific woman, and made a pass…well, as a single man…been there, done that.
Republicans are trying to pretend the Bennett accusation is akin to Trump’s 18 transgressions, or Cosby’s or Weinstein’s collections. Perhaps they want revenge for calling out Associate Justice Brett M. Kavanaugh for his habitual gang rapes. It’s a fake equivalency.

Republican lies are old hat.
The accusers are not Republicans.
Yes, they are. The Republicans engineered the accusation, just like Benghazi. AOC and Nancy have to go along with it, because it needs a fair hearing...and besides, it will acquit Cuomo.

My goodness, you sound angry. Southerners! No brains, all brawn.
Republicans are really beating the bush to find faux victims for this invented non-story. By now, Trump could have called out 20-30 women who had been harassed by him. Still, they can only find one...three that can recall anything that can be remotely called suggestive.
I love their latest find. They present a token who says: He asked her if he could kiss her! Talk about politically correct...they were just greeting at a wedding reception, and HE ASKED HER!!!
It reminds me of that scene in the movie Hancock, where he's rescuing a female police officer:
John Hancock : [to pinned-down female cop] Good job! Do I have permission to touch your body?
Female Cop : Yes!
John Hancock : It's not sexual. Not that you're not an attractive woman. You're actually a very attractive woman and...
Female Cop : [screaming] Get me the hell out of here!

Anyway...sparse pickens for their big revenge move.

Anna Ruch told The New York Times late Monday that she removed the Democratic governor's hand from her back, but he said she seemed “aggressive,” promptly put his hands on her face and asked if he could kiss her.
“I was so confused and shocked and embarrassed,” Ruch, now 33, told the Times, which published a photo of the encounter showing the governor's hands on her face. “I turned my head away and didn’t have words in that moment.”

Contrast this ^ with: "Trump reached up my skirt and touched my vagina," or his own admission..."they let you grab their pussy!" Republicans are really scraping the bottom of the barrel for a counter-punch, eh?

“I wish that our culture supported the idea of the Governor resigning after two women made credible allegations of sexual harassment against him. Unfortunately, I don’t have faith that that is enough to motivate the Governor to resign,” said Brooklyn State Senator Julia Salazar on Sunday, the day before a third woman came forward with another allegation of sexual harassment against Cuomo. “My hope is that the public and my colleagues in the legislature will take these allegations seriously enough to not allow Governor Cuomo to continue to be the executive without accountability.”
On Monday night, following the third sexual harassment allegation, Representative Kathleen Rice became the first Democratic member of congress from New York to call on Cuomo to resign.

It's the sign of a dying Republican Party, just before the last, final exhale. They no longer try to do anything positive...just destruction, everywhere.
We'll have to learn to ignore them.
