Care home staff 'refusing vaccine' shock
Up to a fifth of staff in some care home groups have refused a coronavirus vaccine when offered, with suggestions that younger workers are more likely to be resistant.
The majority of care home staff who have been offered the jab are getting vaccinated but data obtained by the Press Association from a number of providers shows between five per cent and 21% of staff offered a vaccine have declined it.
The Prime Minister has called on everyone to get the jab when it is their turn and care providers say it is vital that staff and residents get the vaccine as soon as possible.
There is currently no regular data from the NHS or Government on how many residents and staff have been given the vaccine, and how many have refused a jab.
Care groups have been calling for daily figures so they can check if the Government is on track to have offered vaccines to all residents by January 24 and address any take-up issues.

Well there is one of the reasons we now have an outbreak in care homes again

A lot of care home staff are black or of mixed race, I wonder if this could have anything to do with it?

It's to do with the politicizing of the whole covid issue by RW elements.

It's not about politics here, culture has a lot to do with it.
Local Mosques, and probably this is happening all round the country, are advising their followers to have the virus because so many are saying they will refuse it.

I wish you were correct. But RW elements made it a political issue, as they tried to avoid its consequences and their own slothfulness.

The virus has been particularly hard on black and mixed race people here, whether that's because more are in the firing line or more dont follow social distancing etc, unfortunately they are also the groups that seem to mistrust the vaccine too....at least that's what local surveys have found.

Thanks Didge.
Carers are vital and should be paid better and treated with far more respect than they are.
They are rightly high up in the queue to receive the vaccine. Everything should be done to persuade them to have it.

They should be fired if they refuse. They literally work with the most vulnerable.

Has it really though...?
Or is that just a claimbased on a fudging of the figures?
Two thirds of Blacks in UK live in London... As do a huge proportion of other ethnics... The vast majority of the rest live overwhelmingly in a few other of our largest cities and towns... As these are the places where the virus has been out prevalent...
So... Are they really more susceptible to it?
Or is it just that most of them happen to live in the main virus hotspots and the figures are just showing that more Black's/ethnics have had it compared to rest of UK population, rather than comparing numbers on a local basis and per population in each demographic accordingly...?

Re: Care home staff 'refusing vaccine' shock
I should think there is a lot of collected data detailing which groups have higher infection rates, men v women, obese v slim, black v white....and so on.
It seems to be widely accepted that black/mixed race people have higher infection rates throughout the country.
That could be because there are more of them working front line jobs, NHS, carers, delivery and shop workers, taxi, bus drivers and so on.
Also many Asian people live with more people per household, everything could add to the figures.
