Mairead Philpott is released from prison after serving less than half her 17-year sentence for killing her six children in a fire

The 38-year-old is 'delighted' at being given her earliest possible release date
She left HMP Send in Surrey yesterday after serving eight-and-a-half years
But the move has been slammed by the Centre For Crime Prevention think-tank

The taxpayer will cover thousands of pounds worth of costs for Philpott to stay in a hostel with a new identity.

Mick Philpott led Mairead and the couple's friend Mosely in what was a scheme to get a bigger council house by burning down his Derby home and framing ex-lover Lisa Willis for the crime.

His intention was to rescue the sleeping children through an upstairs window but the plan went disastrously wrong and the blaze claimed the lives of Duwayne, 13, Jade, 10, John, nine, Jack, seven, Jesse, six, and Jayden, five.

I doubt whether she would be a danger to society in general.

Apart from the obvious reasoning that she committed a horrendous crime and for some reason has been granted her freedom at the earliest opportunity possible, this excuse for a human being is still young enough to have more children, and that is a horrific thought.

What kind of people are they anyway, this disgusting excuse for a human being was lording it in a council house, paid for by the tax payers, with his wife and a mistress along with their children. As he didn't have money and isn't a particularly attractive person or dynamic in any way, I'm wondering what did these women see in him or were they just lacking in intelligence and self worth or they just like psychopaths. Although I believe the mistress saw the light and left before the fire and then they tried to blame her for the fire. This man has 17 children, probably that he knows of. While in prison he has received hundreds of thousands of pounds for court cases he is involved in but cannot be divulged at this time, also he has received considerable dentistry and is learning to play the guitar, after killing his children just to get a bigger council house.

Yeah...yeah...yeah... A high-priced lawyer will always find the sympathy 'button' to push. Postpartum depression used to be grounds to stay in bed later; now it's used to excuse murder of your own children.

Antisocial personality disorder (ASPD or APD) is a personality disorder characterized by a long-term pattern of disregard for, or violation of, the rights of others. No, I'm saying that mental illness is no excuse for criminal behavior. Texas follows the M'Naughton Rule:

Yeats was a terrible example. She was undergoing extensive psychiatric care prior to killing her children. Or do you think that was part of her plan? Act homicidal with her shrink then kill her children so that she could live the rest of her life in a mental hospital.
