European Union considers banning US citizens
The European Union is considering prohibiting entry for people from the United States, Russia and Brazil...the three hardest hit nations by Covid-19.
Meanwhile, states within the US that resisted measures to limit spread of the disease are now experiencing surges in numbers contracting the virus, as well as hospitalizations and deaths as a result of the virus.
States involved are mostly those that bought into Trump's dismissive attitude toward Covid-19, including Florida, Arizona, South Carolina, Texas, Georgia...mostly southern and sun belt states, which were slow to impose restrictions and too quick to open up. Now they are paying the price.
New York, New Jersey and Connecticut are considering a quarantine for visitors from the south.

Can you blame countries or States for wanting to keep people out who come from areas where lockdown and social distancing rules have been ignored, thus creating many more infections and deaths than would have normally happened?...because I cant.

It's certainly not racism, as only nations are designated and not races. The European economy will take a hit if Americans are prohibited from touring around. Italy was once ground zero in the western world, now it's the US...by far. Trump's handling of this crisis will be his downfall.

I don't blame then for wanting to keep us out. Contain the crazy.

And if they let us in, may I suggest hiding the statues. We've become very worked up about inanimate objects lately.

Does this still include England? Ben is going back to Texas on Monday but hopes to return within 4-5 weeks.

I would think not, because of Brexit -- sure hope I'm right.
Re: European Union considers banning US citizens
As of this morning, it was just a proposal. But I would keep an eye on it, Ben. Britain might adopt the ban on its own.
Can't you use covid-19 to postpone your trip?

Of course it isn't racism, it's common sense to protect your own citizens and stop a deadly infection from multiplying.
Wales has not allowed anyone from England to cross into their border for months unless they live or work in Wales.... even the people who have holiday homes, lodges and statics there have not been allowed into Wales......and I can fully understand why.

How is that possibly racism, people aren't banned because of race but because of possible infection. Are we going to have infectionism now to ad to all the other isms? Get a grip.

Shouting racism without using common sense is sadly still rife on forums.
It's meaningless.
