COVID-19 pandemic could last over a year and a half, U.S. government says
The coronavirus pandemic could last over 18 months, according to a 100-page federal government response plan recently shared with The New York Times.
The next year and a half could include "multiple waves of illness," according to the document. "The spread and severity of COVID-19 will be difficult to forecast and characterize."
What's more, increasing COVID-19 cases in the U.S. will mean more hospitalizations among at-risk people, which could strain the health care system, they wrote. The document, dated March 13, is marked as "unclassified" but "for Official Use Only," and "Not For Public Distribution or Release."

Re: COVID-19 pandemic could last over a year and a half, U.S. government says
Easily. Since we know almost nothing about it, anything is possible. Does it reinfect the same host? Does it mutate, and come back in a different form?
The culprit, it seems, is the urge to deregulate--ie, removing public protections--and defund any on-going research into epidemiology. The present administration's disbanding to the Pandemic Response Team of the NSA in 2018, and defunding of any CDC efforts to research SARS--the predecessor to Covid-19--are the proximate cause of this pandemic.
It's another Republican fook-up that Democrats will have to spend half their next term cleaning up. What else is new?

Yes, this sheltering crap isn't going to work. We cant/won't do this more than a few more weeks. There better be a better plan than this to take it's place.

I think that America, (or its leaders, to be precise), needs to wake up. And quickly too.

It's going to last every where that long. But you are correct, we need to adopt a policy more like the S Koreans and run like hell from the failed policies of Europe.

He's a narcissist. He only sees the world in a mirror. It's what is happening with the stock market that bothers him.
He doesn't give a sheit about anyone's health, and the health of everyone must come before the economy. It's simple causation...cause precedes effect. If the world is sick, no one is going to go to work.
Whether he's crazy or not, he's out of touch with the problem.

OK serious answer:
Yep, some of us will catch the bug and die.
Some (far more) will catch it and become very sick …... and recover completely.
Some will catch it and have no symptoms
Finally some people will not catch it at all, no matter how much they are exposed to it.
We are all different, due to the huge diversity in the human genome!!

Re: COVID-19 pandemic could last over a year and a half, U.S. government says
US medical authorities stated yesterday that Amerikuh could be suffering this pandemic for the next 18 months...
In his daily pronouncements and follow-upTwitterthon, el presidente Donnie de DumDum declared that he had spoken to 'God' (a.k.a. Vlad the Impaler, and the health fund and Big Pharma' bosses..), and told them that he wanted this all over and done with by Easter..
Last seen, VP Pence was spotted chatting with Biden, Pelosi and Cuomo, and discussing the chance of launching a palace coup before then.

As of a couple days ago, Italy had 60,000 infections in a country of 60 million. That's .1 percent of the population. Lets say the infection rate is actually ten times that rate.
That means 1 percent of the country gets it, and most survive.

I mentioned the various categories/scenarios …. but did not attach percentages to any of them cos I wasn't sure of the stats.

The stats are pretty easy to compute, unless you're a member of congress.
