Gordon Ramsay Accused of Cultural Appropriation for Opening Asian Restaurant | Good Morning Britain
Chef Gordon Ramsay has been accused of cultural appropriation for his new 1930s Tokyo inspired restaurant 'Lucky Cat' in London's Mayfair. Critics claim the 'authentic Asian' restaurant does not have any Asian chefs. Neil Rankin and Aldo Zilli debate whether or not it is cultural appropriation for chefs to profit as they cook food from a different country.

Those ignorant fools should visit 'Indochina' (Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos..).
That place is reportedly full of French restaraunts and bread/pastry shops..
And "French bread shops" in Sydney seem to be largely run by Vietnamese families (or is that 'racial stereotyping' on my part !)

What if an African-American wanted to invest in an 'Irish Pub' ?
Or a Chinaman bought a fish&chip shop in Blackpool ?
Methinks there might be some professional rivalry somewhere behind their stirring ?

from me. As usual, wolf, you speak from insight and experience.
We forget that Indochina was once ruled by France. Just as the Dutch taught Mexicans how to brew excellent beer during the Maximilian rule, the French taught the southeast Asians how to cook exquisite dishes during their era, blending Asian dishes with French flair. It is representative of an historical era, deserving of attention.
They have now brought their skills to the US, and we are blessed with many fusion restaurants, featuring French and Indochina dish blends. Xlnt.
