The Importance Of Living In The Moment
The past doesn’t matter.
Sure, your past affects where you are in life now, but you can’t live in it. Mistakes you’ve made, people that have hurt you -- they are all things of the past. Sometimes we get stuck in the past because we can’t let people or feelings go. We live each day with regrets or asking “what ifs,” wondering how our life might be different if we could change things that already happened.
But what if you miss something new and wonderful because you can’t let go of your past?
The future doesn’t matter either.
You can dream about it, you can work towards it, but in the end, you can’t live in it. We get so caught up in trying to create our perfect life that we convince ourselves that we can control our present to create a perfect future. We forget to enjoy what life is giving us in the moment, because we are too focused on how it might affect us later.
But what if you don’t see something amazing that life has put right in front of your eyes?
The present is the most important thing in your life.
Who you’re with, how you act, why you’re laughing or crying, what you’re doing right now? It all matters. Because you ‘re living in the present. How you felt 10 months ago or how you might feel in five years can’t change how you feel right now in this moment. Only what you do in the present will ever affect that. But so often we don’t remember to live in the moment, and we miss many of the beautiful things that are in our lives right now.
We forget what it means to live in the moment, because we think that our past and our future is what determines who we are and how we feel and what happens to us. But all of these things actually come from living in the moment.

I swear by this. Living in the now allows you to live and love freely, makes you hold no grudges, rids you of worry and stress and makes you realise that right now, is all you really have.

Oh, I love that quote. I was the editor of my college newspaper for a semester, and my staff all knew how much I love The Beatles and John Lennon. They used that quote in a goodbye column that they wrote for me in my last edition as editor, before I graduated. Found it very touching, and it still brings back good memories.
Re: The Importance Of Living In The Moment
Syl, that is exactly it. We spend so much time living in the past - which we cannot change, and the future - which hasn’t happened yet, that we just miss the moment.

I disagree on all counts, as all three actually matter
People should live for the moment, but have only done so by how people have lived by the past. So the past is very important, in order that we grow and learn. That they have gone onto share their wisdom for us and how we continually learn by mistakes. So in order to correct our errors, we have to continually look at our past to make this better. Hence its teaching that has enabled people to better their lives. Hence the past is important and should be Incorporated into how we think in how we live in the present. The same can be said for the future. As what we do now, directly effects ourselves being able to live in the present at any given time. Hence all our connected. So whilst its best to live in the present. Its just as important to learn from the past and also think about the furture of others. As to only think of ourselves in the present is selfish. As what sort of lesson are we teaching children, if we do not think of their futures?
To me, none champion one over the other, as they are equally important and why to me, placing one over the other, shows people will never learn life values.

Re: The Importance Of Living In The Moment
Don't think I'll go there.
I bought a new pc last year and forgot about ad blockers until I had adverts for sort of Anime porn films, really? Then a full screen advert featuring a woodland scene with a completely naked woman with the text about living near by and we could met up if I wanted. I assumed it was meant for the male audience but maybe not. I nearly fell off the chair, recovered and clicked on ad blocker.

How does this happen? I've never had that, Thank God, but it's so invasive.

That's what I wondered, maybe I did something, I don't know, its not happened since the ad blocker is on Thank goodness. I was shocked at first then I couldn't understand what was going on. There were 'dating' site and escort adverts coming up but not like the woodland one!
All is well now.
All is well now.

Re: The Importance Of Living In The Moment
It's not the pc. It's the Internet Browser, to which the search engine has attached a cookie, intimating that someone has visited and apparently likes such sites.
That's what Google does for a living...record proclivities. It's the same with Safeway or Tesco, when you use your savings card. The central computer records that you like Jello or beer or anything you buy with frequency. Then it feeds back promotions.
Your computer is just receiving those promotions. Of course, when you turn on the ad blocker, you eliminate all such cookies.
As an example, I recently researched 20th-century guitar makers. Now I'm getting tons of ads not only for guitars, but acoustical equipment. I was simply making an inquiry. Sometimes it's comical what/how they interpret your inquiries to be.

Re: The Importance Of Living In The Moment
Dont ever google Spanx underwear....not sure what trigger word I used wrong but some of the pics that popped up made my eyes water.
I also wandered innocently into a weird foot fetish site once when I was trying to find some shoes that had been for sale on the TV shopping channel QVC.
