Rapist transgender prisoner who identifies as a woman admits sexually assaulting two female inmates before she was switched to a male prison

A transgender prisoner has pleaded guilty to two sexual assaults against fellow female prisoners, a court heard.

Karen White, who was born a man but identifies as a woman, has confessed to two counts of sexual touching during her time at New Hall Prison, Wakefield.

The assaults took place between September and November 2017, a court heard.

Details of the charges were revealed today (Sept 6) when she appeared before Leeds Crown Court to plead guilty to one historical count of rape.

She had previously admitted two other counts of rape and one count of grievous bodily harm - all offences which took place prior to being in prison.

She also previously admitted the two sexual assault charges at a previous hearing.

Ms White, 51, has since been moved to a male prison.

She will be sentenced on October 11 at Leeds Crown Court.

Addressing the defendant, judge Christopher Batty said: 'I want a full pre-sentence report made.

'I shall get a full sentence report for the issue of dangerousness. I will see you on the 11th of October.

It would probably be a bigger problem than it currently is if men were imprisoned with women, since you've got some truly big, strong men and some truly small, powerless women out there. Separating the genders probably does help prevent rapes.

Having a transgender prison would just mean that all the rapes are transgender-vs.-transgender, that's all.

And it's not smart to change an entire policy based on the behavior of one person.

I never said a transgender prison but wings for both transgender men and one for transgender women

What is wrong is the safeguarding of people is being trumped by political correctness

So I think its wrong to send a transwoman or transman into a male or female prison. They should have their own facility and be surrounded by like for like people. I mean placing people who are not biologically the same, who think they are is a potential risk, when criminals. I am thinking also about the transgender people here. As would it not be better for them to be with other transgenders? To safeguard them also from abuse and harm? As a transgender male is also going to be at risk from criminal men etc.

At the end of the day, there is nothing wrong with people identifying with what ever they want to be

That is all in the mind, but this about the potential for increased risk

Its not one case out of the ordinary either
