Signs that Spring is coming.
Daffodils in the shops...(just bought a bunch, £1 from M&S)
Managed to line dry a washload of towels...(first since last October)
Back home before it gets dark....(The lighter nights are definitely on their way again)

Daffodils smell like piss, have you ever noticed? They look delightful but smell rank.
I love spring. I love all the seasons actually.

Re: Signs that Spring is coming.
I just smelled mine....they don't smell like piss.
Have you noticed though, unless you pick your own flowers or buy them from a proper florist, cut flowers don't seem to have any smell at all anymore.

Ahhh...an English garden. Say, pressed coffee in the drawing room of the Draycott Hotel, in Cadogan Gardens, windows up, a slight breeze coming across.

Another sign of spring, deciding not to wear the boots that have been welded to your feet for the last 5 months.

Damn straight. It’s not like I can pop over to the House That Ruth Built for every home game. I may be able to if Sly polishes up her psychic skills and gives me some winning lottery numbers
Last year I caught a few Rockies games here in state. If anything it was a good reason to eat hotdogs and do day drinking in the middle of the week.

Oh, well that's quite the scientific study.
Using you mathematics. Trump should have gotten zero votes because no Americans on this forum voted for him unless Quill was drunk and didn't check the right box.

A man has been charged with murder after a woman was fatally stabbed at a Melbourne home overnight.
The 41-year-old woman died from stab wounds at a home in suburban Hallam just after midnight on Saturday despite the efforts of emergency services.
A 43-year-old man known to the woman presented himself to a police station a short time later and is due to face Melbourne Magistrates Court on Saturday afternoon charged with murder.

She should have armed herself with a boomerang I guess.
Look on the bright side. She didn't have one of those scary gun things. Could have scared the neighbors if she fired it. She's dead, but no guns were fired thank god.

Your daughters are 5 times more likely to be killed thanks to Your Selfish refusal to reconsider you hobby.
Your daughters would be 5 times safer unarmed in Australia, than armed in the USA. Cause we were civilized adults that Dealt with the problems created by guns and choose preventing mass shootings over a hobby.

Magnificent, Syl. Kitt Peak, just southwest of Tucson, is one of the premier telescope sites in the world...run by the University of Arizona...
An additional benefit are the fields of poppies that are in the valleys below...
You can actually see the shape of the wind, as it moves across the flowers...

For Brits in search of signs of an approaching spring I can do no better than recommend the National Trust's Anglesey Abbey and its beautiful Winter Garden just outside Cambridge.
I was there last weekend. The famous banks of snowdrops were absolutely stunning.

Re: Signs that Spring is coming.
It looks beautiful there Fred....if I lived nearer the south we would definitely visit, but tbh we have the most glorious NT places all over the UK.
I know you are more involved, but just being a visitor to the gardens and homes has always been a pleasure.
local to me are Lyme park, Dunham Massey and Tatton park, took my son, then grandson to these places for many happy days out.
Grandson in particular was always fascinated with the history of the stately homes.....great memories.
Quill, thanks for more lovely pics, they make me glad to be alive.

Well signs of spring didn't last long.
"Temperatures across the UK are set to plummet within days as an Arctic blast from Russia brings perishing temperatures, snow and ice.
Cold air from western Europe will sweep across Britain from Sunday as temperatures dip to -5C overnight.
The cold snap follows a period of sudden stratospheric warming of the Earth’s atmosphere, which “greatly increases the risk of wintry weather”, the Met Office said."

No, I haven't read those, Cass.
We in this country are indeed fortunate to have both the NT and English Heritage. But for these two charities so many historic properties and landscapes would either have become privately owned or sold for development, robbing us of our heritage and our right to enjoy it.
I'm proud to be a member of both organisations.
