Spring has arrived in Texas!!!!
I know because I just got this e-mail from a coworker:
Tornado Procedures
Action to take:
1. Get away from the perimeter of the building and exterior glass.
2. Leave your exterior office _ close doors.
3. Take shelter in an interior hallway or stairwell.
4. Sit down and protect yourself by putting your head as close to your lap as possible or kneel protecting your head. Interlace your fingers behind your neck.
5. If you are in transit within the building:
A. DO NOT use the elevators.
B. Seek shelter in the stairwell or below ground level.
6. Do not go to the lobby or outside the building.
7. Do not attempt to evacuate the building unless instructed to do so by the building authority via the public address system and/or email blast.
8. Remain in the stairwell until the ALL CLEAR is sounded by the building authority.
9. If you are caught in an outside perimeter office, seek protection under a desk.

If you look at it a certain way, there's pretty much always an oncoming tornado here
That was two SPRINGS ago ...

If you look around the 1:40 mark there's a little car just driving past like, "What?"
Re: Spring has arrived in Texas!!!!
Ben did ya'll get hit by the baseball size hail?
This is why I'm in AZ. No hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, tons of snow. True we have a high fire risk but that is the only worry nature wise. Soon we may even be beachfront

No hail out here tonight, though I'm sure it's coming too!
Yes, someday AZ will be beachfront again because the Texas Sea will come back ... seriously, you can find old sea shells all throughout the driest parts of West Texas, it's pretty cool.

Ah, crap -- didn't see that ...
Re: Spring has arrived in Texas!!!!
That's so not good. Spring has arrived here a well, but the sand blown in from the Sahara has rocketed pollution to dangerous levels. Should have been a sunny day, but got very grey this afternoon and had to have the windows shut, and I'm in the country, lord knows what London was like! 999 calls up by 14% for asthma sufferers.

I was thinking more along the lines of when CA falls into the ocean but I'd forgotten about the sea!

It's yours
Seriously, we have them so often here that if it's 30 miles away we don't worry too much -- something would have beeped or buzzed at me by now (he said just before being sucked out his own window).
Tornado Alley basically stretches from central Texas up the midsection of the U.S., but they're probably most common here, in Oklahoma and, of course, Kansas:

That would be quite a trek though, and I'm scared that if I go through NM the aliens will get me -- or my grandmother. Same thing basically.

Thanks! Yes, there was very minimal damage, most of the really bad stuff stayed well out of populous areas, but it's thought that as many as four tornados may have touched down.

Mate in Portsmouth went out for a run and within a few minutes couldn't breath.
Its the windy season here (not like poor ben dodging tornadoes) with gusts averaging 40mph with strong ones up to 70mph and my sinuses have given me hell....Wednesday would have been happy for someone to drill into my skull. Hugs to yer OH eds I truly sympathize with him.
Sassy we used to get an orange wall of sand in Cyprus every year from the Sahara ....amazing but awful at same time. Seriously all you could see was orange....it used to last a couple of hours then you go outside and everything was covered. Used to freak the cats out big time - tried to get them inside but the stubborn buggers soon learned!

That is very sweet of you ... yeah, Houston certainly can get some bad ones. Seems like the hurricanes in that area have died down a bit in recent years, though.
Re: Spring has arrived in Texas!!!!
We had it here on the coast also , on the map it said we were getting it mild but it was here for a few days and was quite bad in places , it lifted yesterday but it has irritated my throat and sinuses , my mum's asthma has been worse too , glad it has gone though and hope everyone are okay and not too effected by it.eddie wrote:Sassy wrote:That's so not good.
